Yes that is 'part' of the best way of handling cross winds.
If you are holding on with your knees and handle bars 'counter steering' makes everything worse.
As has been said, RELAX, let your windward knee 'flap' as it wants - think of why riders on a circuit hang their knees out. It help to...
I can substantiate that it works when I fell off with the bike stationary (wrong gear, turning right, stall, followed by embarrassment as I was on my back waving my arms and legs, hence the name!). I had one off at very low speed trying to stop being 'T' boned by a lunatic. Again it worked, no...
It isn't a high performance engine so the cheapest you can find will be OK. Still if you want you can use an occasional tank of a 'premium' petrol to see if you feel any difference. Not worth using the Premium grade though.
Sorry to hear about your accident, especially as it wasn't your fault. Sadly we more mature riders take longer to heal, but I'm delighted that you are keen to get back on a bike. While I hope I don't have a similar experience I know one day I'll have to 'downsize', but unlike you I'm not a fan...
I've only owned one - Yamaha 250 Majesty - when I couldn't hold up a bike. It helped me back into biking as I recovered my health, but it reminded me why I was a rocker and not a Mod....
Nothing to hold with your knees, crude suspension, poor visibility, wrecked my back (can't take the weight...
Looks an excellent piece of kit - and you certainly have empty roads and beautiful scenery! Some of the STOP signs were very unusual when compared with this country - which might explain a certain reluctance to stop?
Interesting - I like the bit at the end

I thought that was the aim of every helmet!
Sorry - didn't see this query until 'wandering' around this site!

Come to think of it the stop lamp was an extra on my 1964 Velocette Vogue - but it came with a centre stand...
And of course we didn't have wing mirrors, but the thought of buying a bike without a kick start was as daft as buying a car without a starting handle.....
It is only a bit of iron work - its price as an 'extra' is ridiculous! I can't think of a bike in the last 50+ years I've owned that didn't have one fitted as standard. The idea that the design is so bad that it would have you off when riding 'enthusiastically' is again surely ridiculous...
The Deauville is a good touring bike with good weather protection and a comfortable seat and riding position. If you want another Honda with a sensible riding position, but with a bit more 'Umph' - the CBF1000 is great - I am still enjoying mine after three years, and hope I can continue riding...
There is less need to 'run in' on modern bikes that there used to be as manufacturing tolerances are far better nowadays. However, as has been said, a little bit of tlc at the beginning of the engine's life will give you a better and longer lasting engine. The main thing to remember is not to...
You are so right! There has been a lot of research, and the medical profession highly recommend bikers to wear ear plugs - your hearing is too valuable to put at risk for the sake of cheap earplugs. I have some made to fit and can wear them all day long on the bike without discomfort.
There are...
