I use the manual mode probably 50% of the time( 2015 NC700XD ) , I live in the sierra nevada mtn's and ride 90% of the time on twisty backroads.
My left hand can't operate the paddle shifter , so I installed the honda accessory footshifter and love it. It allows me to use engine braking and control shifting on the tight technical sections that I ride , but I do end up getting into the rev limiter on a pretty regular basis . I've also installed a penske shock . firmer fork springs , tapered roller bearings and stickier tires and it loves carving GS turns on the pavement ( been riding for 55 years )
