I am vertically challenged at 5'3" and when I first got my NC I thought I could compensate but after 3 months of sliding around on the seat and having issues backing up when parking, I decided I needed to do something. I thought about lowering it, but didn't want to mess with the suspension. After talking to other lady riders and a gal who blogs about gear (Gear Chic) i decided to try Lady Daytona boots either the Ladystars or the lady Pilots. These boots are incredible! They gave me a full 2 inches of height and they let me almost flat foot. They have a thicker sole and heel, added to this they stack the insole. They made a complete difference! They are handmade in Germany and are goretex which is awesome for rainy climates. The boots did not affect shifting at all and they are comfortable. You can get them at Revzilla. In Canada (BC) I had to get mine shipped from Calgary from Blackfoot Motosports it was the only retailer in Western Canada I could find and they gave me excellent service.

So if you are struggling with height and need new boots try these!

The boot on the left is my old one and I had to put it on a book to get the heel height anywhere close.

I have a pair of Daytona GTX boots. At 6'-2" I didn't need (or get) extra height boots, but they were the only ones I could find in genuine narrow widths. Some folks say that Sidi "runs narrow" but is not the same thing. They are absolutely fantastic riding boots and well worth their high price. They will protect and serve you well and are almost comfortable enough for a hike.

Revzilla doesn't carry the narrow sizes, but Helimot ordered them for me directly from Germany...

I've used lowering links to drop it about 3/4 of an inch, but I think I'd like to get that clearance back. I'm thinking on looking into getting the actual seat foam shaved down, and then recovered. I ride a fair amount and relatively long distances so I'm a little worried about it being less comfortable.

The previous owner shaved down the seat. I wish he hadn't. I now tend to slide backwards and wonder if some of the "comfort" was reduced.

i shaved an inch off, then added softer foam to it. this gave me a whole lot of comfort. best mod i did. only cost me about 25 bucks to do myself.

by the way, if your bike is new, the bike suspension will break in after about 4k. and come down another 1/2 inch....

How easy was it to recover?

Sorry... I ment put the material cover back over top of the foam and attach to the under side of the seat. The post was supposed to read re-cover the seat. Darn spell check.
