I was going to reply to your post, but I'll just let the women beat you up to pulp over that comment.

You sure crave attention, don't you wildeone?

Kudos to all you gals that brave the dangers of riding on two wheels with the rest of us. I truly tip my helmet to you all.

Make your presents known and your voices heard. :)

My wife road her own motorcycle from 1967 until 2011. That was over 40 years I got to ride motorcycles with her. The artritis in her knees and hips now keeps her from riding, otherwise I sure would not be riding with you ugly guys.

OCR: go buy her a can-am with one of those lounge chair seats :)

I'm liking this poster less and less every day. A few notes for you though...
1- that's a dress. A skirt starts at the waist and goes down.
2- If I wore a dress that short, it would be more commonly referred to as a shirt.
3 - No. Just no. Attgatt, because A: I would like to retain my lovely curves when I next meet the pavement; and B: in no universe do I exist to be eye candy for (hmm, what's a forum-appropriate descriptor) ...persons such as yourself.
4 - do you have your own bridge, or do you live under your parents'?

A fellow here at work rides in a kilt - but only his street bikes where he sits forward. Anything he owns like his Harley he has problems with kilt flap. His suggested resolution to "What if you go down?" is "Don't go down."

OH - and my 11 yo daughter can't wait to get her first bike and NO she doesn't want a scooter.

A kilt? Fantastic! Pic or it hasn't happened...

That is awesome about your daughter. Mine would never ride, and worries about me. I believe in time I can get my wife to ride again with me...she worries now too with age and responsibilities etc...

Well now, this has been an interesting read. Like Beemer, I wonder about some of the early forum members - how they are and why they don't post anymore.

There are quite a few women riders out here on Vancouver Island. The local motorcycle training program frequently has women's only courses as the demand is so great. Even though I am a woman rider I am guilty of stereotyping too. :(
I went to one of the smaller islands for a meeting at a school, out of the 6 women (school staff) it turned out that two of the more senior ladies were previous motorcycle riders. I would never have guessed it! Would have loved to talk to them more.
It's great to see that most of the kids aren't even phased when I show up at a preschool on the bike. :)

On a side note I've recently switched from a black jacket (on my black NC) to a high vis yellow one, and while I can't say for sure, but it seems like I've had more people stop and talk with me when I've stopped and am getting off of the bike! Maybe I look friendlier!

Hey Gonepaddling! I'm in Victoria too! In fact I teach for the school you are talking about. Are you on facebook?

I love the surprised look on people's faces when I take my helmet off and they realize I'm middle aged & a chick on a bike, always makes me smile. I find little kids wave a lot when I'm wearing my pink & white jacket. Pretty cool!

My cousin could pass for a biker dude when she's riding her Harley, but she doesn't use a full face helmet so if you get a good look you figure it out quick enough.
<edit>
FWIW, several female friends my age rode so I've never thought much of it.

An apt story from some time ago reported in the Grimsby Echo newspaper.

On a cold winter's morning at 5:30 a.m. a motorcyclist was stranded at the side of the road alongside an old, dead British bike. A truck driver (who was also a biker) stopped to render assistance. The biker explained that the bike had started and run for about 1/2 a mile and died.
"I know what the problem is" said the trucker. "Your carb's frozen. If you piss on it, it will defrost. Then you can start the bike and wait for the cylinder to warm up before you set off again"

The biker explained that the urge wasn't there at the moment.

"Stand back" said the trucker, as he whipped his "thang" out and proceeded to defrost the carb. Normal service was restored and they both went on their ways.

The biker's father took the time, the next day, to write a letter of thanks to the trucking company and said that his DAUGHTER was able to complete her journey to work!
