Places in North America I still need to ride a motorcycle too. Some of these places I have already been too, but just want to go one more time. At my age, I got to go soon!

1. Wrangell – St. Elias National Park and Preserve in Yukon, Alaska.
2. Mount McKinley – Denali National Park, Alaska
3. Snag, Canada – Yukon Territory
4. Henderson Lake – Vancouver Island, Canada
5. Fly Geyser “Three Buddhas” in the western most county in Nevada.
6. Badwater Basin, California - in Death Valley National Park.
7. Furnace Creek, California – in Death Valley
8. Mount Washington, New Hampshire – Need to ride the clog train at that location.
9. Mount Rainier, Washington – went there before going to Viet Nam.
10. Route 50, The George Washington Highway, West Virginia
11. Needles Highway, Black Hills, South Dakota
12. Blue Ridge Parkway, Virginia
13. Beartooth Pass, Wyoming
14. San Juan Mountain Skyway, Colorado
15. Tunnel of Trees Road, Michigan
16. Cherohala Skyway, Tennessee

Here is a unique one to consider.

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel (Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel Homepage).

They say you are riding along on a bridge over the water and it looks as if the road ends abruptly.

When in reality it drops down out of site in a tunnel under the bay.

You ride for maybe a mile under the bay!!

I want to get down and ride this but I may have to do it WITHOUT my wife on back.

And don't forget The Tail of the Dragon (http://tailofthedragon.com/) in North Carolina-Tennesse.

Just some thoughts!

God bless!!

Michael

My first thought seeing your list is that for me it would be a shorter to list the places that I have rode a Motorcycle to rather than the places I would still like to go. Even though I've ridden in 30 states I haven't been to a lot of the various places in them. But I have been to #11 on your list.

I have been to Virginia Beach, Virginia, and yes the toll bridge is a great ride. Also, I-10 at Mobile, Alabama looks a lot like the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, same bridge to a tunnel effect. I usually go to the Dragon a few times each year, and it is the best motorcycle ride in America when coupled with the Blue Ridge Parkway. Do not go to the Blue Ridge on a motorcycle during family summer travel months, as it is bumper to bumper being America's #1 family vacation spot. Also, avoid Gatlinburg on a motorcycle during the family travel times. Spring and fall when the kids are in school is the best time for this motorcycle trip.

I went to Needles Highway, Black Hills, South Dakota this summer for the 75th Sturgis. Problem was there were over one million bikers there at the same time. Need to go back once again when not so many folks are there. Been to the Needles Highway a few times, but still want to go back.

I did the 50 states patch fad in the 90's. However, you go though states and the edge of some states way to fast just to get a spot filled on the patch on your vest. Now days I just get a pin for my hat when I can find it. A lot more fun taking your time and seeing this county.

You've done the Dragon and not the Cherohala, it's right there. That and the Dragon make a nice loop. We go up there every spring, but I seldom ride the dragon, I'm busy exploring. Next time you are in the neighborhood, give a hollar.

I would include the Trans Taiga Road and some time in Newfoundland. Newfoundland can be a civilized trip if you take the ferry both ways from Nova Scotia (or quite dusty otherwise).

How many miles long is the Tunnel of Trees. I was told it covers nearly 30 miles long. I have seen some unreal pictures of the foliage hanging over the roadway during the fall months.
It is a nice ride but during the color season can be very busy. It doesn't seem worthy of a bucket list but to each their own.
M-22 in West Michigan and 58 in the UP are much much longer and just as colorful. There is a killer restaurant on the north end of the tunnel of trees....I see your south of Houston. I will be passing through Houstsn this morning. Small world.

What is the name of the restaurant? I'll check it out when I come through.

If you are in the Houston area on Sunday, we are having a ride on 11/29/2015. Leaves from Steak and Lube on Gulf Freeway (I-45 south to Galveston) KSU at 11:00AM, if you want to ride. It is a Toy-for-Tots run. The cost is $20.

I would love to see a complete US riders bucket list. Can we do that? The model for an epic ride.

Just the National Parks in Arizona, New Mexico, and California can take half your life time to see. Seeing all 52 national parks is a great starting point! There are also some outstanding motorcycle rallies in this county, that I would advise going too at least once. Then there are the everyone must ride at least one time motorcycle roads.

Motorcycle must do roads to ride:

1. Deals Gap
2. Blue Ridge
3. Million Dollar Highway
4. Three Twisted Sisters
5. Canada Hells Gate
6. Hwy 66 from Chicago to L.A. (won't be around much longer)
7. Hwy 1 Califonia
8. U.S. Highway One (Maine to Key West, Fl.)
9. Washington Mountains (In the Fall)
10. Pigs Trail and Scenic 7 (Arkansas)
11. Alaska Hwy 1

And I am sure there a many more roads to ride. What is important is Just Do It!. Shut the Frunk Up and Ride!

I've done a couple of those, would like to do a few more. I'm planning a trip to Arkansas for next year, then I want to do a Utah/ Colorado trip. Then....I'd love to start in seattle, ride the coast down to California and loop back through the mountains. In the middle of all that I would like to go to Maine. I've got the planning spreadsheet of a British guy who toured the US for five months. Amazing detail. I'm currently reading the ride report on ADV forums that did route 66. Great report.

That trip would get 6 on the list. Have to go to White Mountains (Clog Train) in New Hampshire when you go to Maine and then (#8) U.S. 1 all the way to Key West. I have many of those adventures on youtube (Adventures of Nana Chou).

I've ridden rt50 from ocean city to Cincinnati and only a small chunk was fun/interesting. From around the WV line to Blackwater falls is fun, have to watch out for the truckers though, nothing like going up a mountain, single lane road, 15 mph stuck behind a truck.

OCR, if you are planning doing any riding out in the Death Valley Area, you should do it now or in the Spring. You'd die trying in the Summer months...

You are so right. The last time I went to Death Valley it was in September 2, 2002. I made the mistake of standing on my pegs, getting up above the windshield. Man did I set down fast, it was like stepping into a oven. It was 117 degrees that day.

The Tunnel of Trees isn't that big of a deal IMO.
Yea, my son and I rode the Tunnel of the Trees in '14. I thought the big sand hill was way better at the National Park, I think it was just south of there. It is about 400' down to Lake Michigan.
