2016: What did you do to/with your NC700 today?

Went out for a ride to get a burger last night. Tight right turn up a ramp to the freeway, D mode.
I accelerated at lean to help stand her up, bike shifted up and the rear kicked out a little.
I'll have to check the video, could have been coincidence, tar snake, gravel, road seam etc..., no panic, just a 'huh?' moment and twisted more once things tracked right again.

At the burger place, had a guy there ask me about my bike, says he just got a really old 80's VFR and wanted to look at it.
This guy asked me if it was like some kind of new Transalp. I said yes, yes it is. :)

Then I performed the removing the helmet from the frunk 'magic trick', gas under the seat etc, explained the DCT and demonstrated a redline rev etc... mind blown.

This is happening quite a bit as I don't think there are very many NC's around here. Most are HD / crotch rocket riders although there are a few GS here and there.

Same here,I put my NC back on pavement for good and use this for all my dirt/dual sport needs.

Live life,be yourself !!!!.

In light of the last few posts I'm going to be blunt. I don't know a single "adventure bike" that can measure up to a traditional dual sport or enduro bike in the dirt.
My street legalized WR400F can pass "adventure bikes" like they are standing still on anything nasty, can handle trails they can't, and it can easily travel freeway speeds.
As long as I have the WR, I see no need for anything more dirt worthy than my NCX.
I may upgrade to an electric start enduro though.

JamesD, I agree with you, but truly I thought everyone already knew that 'adventure' bikes were pretty mildly re-worked street bikes, sold to those (of us?) trying to avert mid-life crisis. Is that not the case?

Fair enough, but if you want to tour *and* ride in the dirt on the same bike and/or on the same trip, what choice do you have? Those 250 dual sports are great offroad, but not really suited for spending a whole day on the freeway.

Absolutely agree 100% and no argument from me, but having owned a DR350 for nearly a decade and ridden to Alaska and back on it, older and gimpier as I am now, I would far rather limit my hard core dirt stuff in favour of a much better highway bike, as far as an either/or only one choice. :D

Honourable mention to an Africa Twin, but an over 500 lb. bike in the dirt is an over 500 lb. bike in the dirt, no matter how good it is...

Usually, mine shifted down if you gas it. What tires are you wearing?
Michelin PR4 rarely do that unless you are scraping and gassing.

Took her to a dealer for the recall work. It took them 10 min. to determine that she did not need to be worked on. The PO had her over a year, but never took her in. I couldn't believe that.

I put a couple of fiber washers under the top windshield screws, suggested by someone on here for better flow. I thought of maybe putting some between the seat and the metal mount, but didn't do it.

I will probably ride some tomorrow to test if the air feels different, but it's been so humid and hot and stormy here it has not been much fun to ride.

Installed the MRA sport X-creen visor. At 65-75 mph I get buffeting with the stock Touring windscreen, I am hoping the visor will help with that. Will get to try it out this weekend as I go on a 500 mile trip of mostly interstate.

I put a new set of PR4s on the bikes. Got 6,800 miles out of the Metzeler. Put a set on Cathy's CB500X also. The Pirelli had a few more miles in them.

Going to put a few hundred on them tomorrow.

I am all packed up, bike sitting in the garage at work ready for AMAVMD this weekend. Heading out at 3pm to Lexington, OH (South of Mansfield) to Mid-Ohio Raceway. If anyone is in the area, come by! Will be in the back corner of the campground with Louisville Vintage Motorworks (LouVin) or in the swap area or on a demo ride. Leaving out Sunday morning.

I guy I knew recently went down on a freeway ramp and he reminded me to be extra careful on those. Cornering G forces on trucks and trailers can cause stuff to fall off onto the ramp and trucks with saddle fuel tanks just topped off can slosh gas or diesel out of overflow vents as the vehicle rounds the ramp. If the need to crank it up prevails then hug the inside edge of the turn where the ramp is presumably cleaner.
