Return to the Land of the Dragon...again....2017

There will be some folks there that usually rode with us in the past...one guy will have a tricked out trailer, blue sport bike.

As to riding the gravel vrs. pavement....its your trip...do what you want. Remember, the plan is no plan. And never do something you are not confident in doing.

Let's do those on our Saturday DualSport Ride.
I have a route planned:
1. Winding Stairs
2. 711
3. Wayah Bald
Lunch in Andrews
4. Little Snowbird (the Gravel Dragon)
5. Cherohala Pkwy
6. N. River Rd to Bald River Falls
7. Return or continue onto Telico Plains depending on progress

Who's coming?

Do you have that on GPS? I wonder how it all connects. Isn't the gravel part past Bald river falls the gravelhala? I did that a few years ago on the DR. Had no clue where I was till we came out the other side.

Yup. aka N River Rd.
Parallels the Chero_hala Pkwy.

That was a nice ride. Only one small tricky spot. I did have an off when i rounded a curve and came face to face with an F250 towing a camper. Stabbed tbe brakes too hard and went down.

N River Road can be a breeze or very challenging depending on conditions. I've gone to the top in good conditions when sport touring bikes easily made it and times when it was wet or gravel sections were deep and loose and I wished I was somewhere else. Last year KSL it was wet and slippery on street tires. I was cleaning mud out of places for weeks. I will say the DCT was awesome on the slick muddy sections even on street tires.

Bike is already to go (me too!!). New shoes (scrubbed in on local roads), cleaned, shining, chain checked. Just got to pack a bag Wednesday after work, put it in the top box, and set my alarm clock for Thursday morning.

Hmm, I guess I should clean my bike, too.

After a hot 600 mile ride, I just arrived at the camp site. Get to set up before dark. KSL8 has begun!

Now we know who the overachiever in the group is. You're making me look bad. I can't make it til Friday and you go and show up a day early, LOL.

Of course I'm only kidding, I'm just jealous.

I will be there about this time tomorrow. I may skip lunch at Deal's gap and do lunch at the restaurant down the road from Kickstand. I have enough stickers and T-shirts of the Dragon, don't really need to stop. I'll fuel up in Maryville and ride thru the Dragon on my way there.
