(Edited) 2021 Land of the Dragon Gathering

Yea Brad...depending on when each of us leave, may have to ride together (at least to outskirts of Murphy-no more gravel though...yikes...that was a bear on street tires). By the way, the road from the campground into Murphy is a nice little 2 lane...

Yeah, that road is a blast. I do agree on the gravel bit, but I dont want to add nearly an hour to the ride just to skip like 15 miles. I would think you would want to head either to Cherohala or 129 to head through Robbinsville rather than take that long way around through Murhpy.

I plan to be present at Kickstand 2020. Looking forward to seeing you all!

The dates, I assume, are the weekend before the Memorial Day holiday weekend. So it’ll be around May 14-17, 2020, right?

Perhaps I’ll get a formal event announcement thread started here soon.

I hope to be at KSL this year. Missed the last few because of health reasons. I do plan to cheat this year and trailer in, but will bring two bikes, the NC and the Hima. I want to ride a couple of legs of the Smokey Mountain 500. Might do that Thursday/Friday if the weather is dry.

670, make the announcement. Those dates are correct. 14-17 of May,

I dont know..that hwy from Tellico Plains down to west of Murphy ( I think hwy 68) is a blast to ride....

I want to see that Hima....been itching for one...dont know why....thought they would put that 650cc in a Hima for 2020, but no joy....

I only have 600 miles on mine, but like it more each ride. I'm probably too fat for the springs, but what the heck. Had an absolutely marvelous ride today, part gravel, part tarmac. I want to ride the MABDR and originally planned to take the NC; it could do it just fine, but my local dealer started selling Royal Enfields and I just couldn't resist the Hima. As to a 650 in the Himalayan, I think it would take too much redesign, be way to heavy. The hima is too heavy as it is.

Yep, the CEO of RE stated the same thing...The bike would have to be redesigned for the 650 motor, as the frame was designed specifically for the 400...Question, how does it sound for being a thumper...I traded my bmw g650gs in on the NC700 because that 650cc thumper got very irritating on the ears...

Its got some funny noises...I had a dr650, so thumpers don't bother me. When I bought the DR, it had a loud pipe which I changed. The Hima is not too loud, but there are strange noises. It takes awhile for the engine to loosen up. the full break in is 1200 miles. 300 to the first oil change. Supposed to stay under 35mph(3000) rpm for the 300 and then under 47 mph for the 1200. I'm at 600 now. was very strict on the first 500. I don't much go over 55 now. I can really tell a difference as the engine loosens up.

I might try to swing in this year and chat with fellow NC folks. Always good to have an excuse to jet off to that area for some good riding!

I am planning on the Tail of the Dragon and Cherohala Skyway ride on that Thursday (05/14). I don't generally like those on weekends. I am staying in Crawford's Campground in Murphy, NC (about 45 minutes or so from Robbinsville) for the ADV Rick's Eastern Rendezvous (we have food and beer included for $100 for Wed-Sun).

I am also heading down early on Wednesday (05/13). Not an exciting ride, but anyone wanna get down a day early, let me know. I'll be kicking off from Louisville around 7:30 AM.

I thought I'd check in here as this is the new home for KSLs. I was just putting in for vacation time for May 13 - 15 (heading up on Wednesday). Looking forward to it!

We will see you Wednesday afternoon.... I plan on riding with Deckyon from Louisville and splitting up around Murphy (or someplace north of there).

Robbie;

Me too. Had a second ablation in September, so hopefully this one will take. Currently plan to trailer up. (yeh, I'm a pansy) That takes a little pressure off which is good for my AFIB. Actually coming off the rhythm meds this week.
Plan on bringing the Himalayan and the NC. I want to ride sections of the Smoky Mountain 500 this year as well as any roads you guys want to ride.
