coming up on 100K...

That is great mileage.

I only ever once saw such mileage on a bike and that was a BM R100GS. ... forgot to mention the other 100,000 Kms to the purchaser. He was one reason (among others) why I never owned a BM again after the one that replaced the GS.

I had a 1992 BMW K75S that I bought in 2002 with 36K for $3,600 - it had the dry car style clutch replaced at a cost of $1200 and the PO was scared-straight! I though well that is out of the way what else could go wrong? 2 months later - aluminum gas tank started leaking at the base - rubber cushions wore and I replaced the right away but the damage was done. $1,400 for a new tank + fuel pump etc needed to be swapped. 3 trips to the welder and the tank had no more leaks - there were two cracks. Water pump seal, starter seal, battery $100, Upper fork tubes, and too many things to list. at 64K the final drive went $1200 (add 40% to prices for inflation). I sold it with 64K miles. BMW - never again.

Bought 2012 Honda NC700X with 33K for $1,600 . Needed all regular maintenance, and some minor damage + tires, chain & sprockets, battery, front brake pads, (clutch is about 85% worn), all fluids, valve adjustment, etc. Would take this bike any day over the BMW or nearly any other bike.

85% left or 85% gone?
I'm assuming that's a guess and you didn't actually take it apart to inspect it (that seems like a lot of work for an inspection is all) I'm just curious

So I've heard of a few people that replaced their NC's clutch ok the forum, from what I remember it was a little north of 60,000 miles, on those NC, my 2013 NC700X has just over 91,000 miles still on the original clutch

I just rolled over 75k and I still have the original clutch. All street riding and not too many hard take offs.

THIS IS NOT AN OIL DEBATE.
But , I do have a question for all of you high mileage 700x riders.
Just curious, what brand of oil did or are you using and viscosity ( I'm aware the manual states the 700x is able to use 10w 40 ). How often did you change the oil filter ?
Did you change oil / filter according to Honda manual specs or did you do your own mileage thing?.
Side note : How often ( if ever) did you bleed your brakes?. Approximately how many sets of brake pads did you have to change out , front and rear.......again , I'm just curious. TIA

Oil is Amsoil, I switched between 10-30 and 10-40
I changed it be the book the first 2 or 3 times then switched to every 10,000 miles, I change the filter every time I change the oil, I usually use Napa gold filter 7356 (the same as my Honda accord uses)
I rarely use my rear brake on pavement so I've only changed it once and that was because I wanted HH pads on the rear, the front have varied drastically on life span depending on brand, type, temperature and my riding, sense I'm using my front brake only most of the time I have had a set get used up pretty quickly but I think that was some hybrid material, they performed well but didn't last long, any time I bled my brakes I changed the fluid, I do they the same time I install new brake pads or around once a year (my front pads don't last a year) I would like to stress that you should inspect your brake pads every week or two if you ride regularly, I've had the amount of pad left change a lot in that time period and it's the only consumable more important than your tires and those are much easier to check

I have 101,000 miles on my 2007 Suzuki C50 Boulevard and approx 57,000 miles on my 2013 Honda NC700X...most of my oil has been Rotella T-4 15w40 in both bikes... (I used synthetic once in both bikes....didnt like it and at next oil change, went back to the 15w40.....the only vehicle I dont use Rotella 15w40 in is my Toyota Prius C: it uses 0w20 (synthetic)....I know Greg...today's diesel oil ratings are not the same as a decade ago..but it has worked for me...my little Kawasaki KLX250SF also gets the 15w40....

I'm planning on attending a NOOB rally in March

[/URL]

2020 dEATh vALLey nOObs rALLy - March 26-29

My NC has 92,600 miles on the original clutch, commuting back and forth if it goes out it's easy to get it picked up and taken home, 6 hours away (before heading out into the desert) would be much less convenient, I figured between now and March I'll change that out for a new one.

If interested in going to the rally, check out the thread on that, first rally I'll have attended I've passed through death valley but never really checked it out, more interesting then I'd imagined

There are quite a few NCs with many more miles than 92K.
Mine may never get there. Only 4500 miles after two years on mine. My commute is only 22 miles round trip and it hibernates during winter.

That is great mileage.

I only ever once saw such mileage on a bike and that was a BM R100GS. The odometer on it went back to zero. It had a driveshaft replaced, gearbox output shaft bearings were replaced twice, a Crank seal, and a clutch. I subsequently was told that the BM dealer sold it on with the 38,000kms showing on the odometer that I had put on it, but seemingly forgot to mention the other 100,000 Kms to the purchaser. He was one reason (among others) why I never owned a BM again after the one that replaced the GS.
My Series 'C Vincent Rapide was 'just run in' at 120.000 miles. It was then raced at Black Bush Airport circuit. To think I sold it for £120!

Hit 80k the other day, getting to it. The 150mile round trip to work causes this. Stock clutch is doing fine. I run Honda gen4 oil and Honda filter. Only issues have been broken chain and worn rear sprocket oh, and a deer. The bike just keeps chugging along.

I guess I'm just a warm weather rider with a 2012 at just 23,000 miles (StratTuner is living the 12 month warm weather dream in Southern California). My first oil change I used T6 with a Purolator synthetic media filter. Second one also with T6 at 12,500 miles with oil test here. A post later on that same page says that their 2018 NC700 manual keeps the OCI at 8,000 miles but with filter change at 16,000 miles. From the oil test, it looks like the oil should be fine for 16,000 miles so that will be my third OCI. Probably 2024!

I broke mine in for the second owner, sold at only 35,000 miles. I assume the NC700X will show 6 digits, my ST1300 did.
