2021: What did you do to/with your NC700/NC750 today?

Santa is apparently on “island time” and dropped off stuff for me on Friday.

Finally got some time to properly fit them this weekend...

Puig engine guards; love ‘em (hope I never need them) were rather simple installing having watched some vids of similar.

I used a zip tie to act as my “extra hands” allowing me to finesse some lines for the clutch side.

I had some concerns having read about the reduction in thread depth but, after seeing how much purchase the bolts had, that quickly went away.

It’s only a few mm’s loss and I felt the amount of thread depth was barely affected after proper torque and loctite.

I also installed two tool tubes for my portable air pump and my tool roll/kit.

I always carry tools w me and they have proven invaluable. On the Ducati, they resided in my givi top box but, I had seen so much unused real estate under and around the tail area of the NC, I couldn’t resist!

The Bavarian adv bikes have all these doodads and gadgets like touratech boxes that fit on the inner side of pannier racks.

I believe DDuelin has tool tubes mounted similarly and, as they say, “imitation is the greatest form of flattery”.

My handguards should arrive today but I’m not 100% they’ll fit; I’ve already tried another set and due to the “girth” and sweep of my protaper bars, they wouldn’t work. Fingers crossed the ones coming today will miraculously fit.

My aux lighting came in but I’m figuring out logistics and will likely add a fuse block.

The hub will allow my oxfords, aux lights, USB port and gerbings plug to reside in one location and eliminate any possible bird’s nest from accumulating underneath the body work.

Now, off to find more “errands” to run...what’s that honey? More qtips?!?! I’m on it!

Nicely done!

You can't tell but you can be ready as you see with your hand on the throttle to get dissapeared asap.:D
Mama bear, cub, and disappear would definitely be included in the string of words passing my lips describing the same circumstances...along with f-bombs interspersed.

I live in a subdivision that backs up to about 1K acres of protected land. There are bear in there and the doorbell cams pick them up all of the time walking down the street. We are supposed to have bearproof garbage cans but it is not enforced; thank God because they are pricey. I have not seen them personally yet though.

A few days late, but this past Saturday, was part of an escort at a funeral for a little 10 year old boy. He had been made an honorary sheriff...It was cold (30'F) but worth it. The little guy knew he was dying (understood life and death) but wanted to be a police officer and a volunteer fireman if he grew up. 96 motorcyclists were part of the escort....may have been more if a little warmer and some roads were still slick from the snow we had received the day before.

I’ve been to far too many funerals; one too many for a fallen brother/sister in blue...For as many as I’ve been to, it never gets easier.
Having a procession for an “honorary” deputy who’s also a child is just the worst.
We’ve got your shift, little brother, rest easy...

In answer to the thread question, "enough to get it in this state". A product of Irish countryside backroads at this time of year. I took it out today for the post service shakedown. Tomorrow it will be washed and put away for a while. Its little brother (CRF) will take over for the remainder of the winter.

Incidentally I thought I noticed a slight increase in tickover at normal operating temperature today. Might be my imagination. I can't think of anything done to the motor during service that might affect tickover. Valve clearances were done and Air filter changed . Other than that nothing was touched. Anyone else come across this after service

What bike is this? I’d like to get spoked wheels for mah bebeh!

Staying ON TOPIC, I was out yesterday w my brother doing my slow/low speed drills at the local (secret) gymkhana location.

Was having a fine time wearing down the pucks on my favorite suits and did a taste of fire road exploring.

Looking at this pic (self-proclaimed narcissist), I can’t wait to get my powerbronze windscreen installed. The bike is clearly capable of knee-down fun, just have to be wary of my body position to reduce the amount of scraping on hard parts.

The short jaunt on dirt yesterday compelled me to seek out some other “hidden” gems.

Which leads to today; had some “errands” to run then off to shakedown at my benchmark route for technical twisties.

While en route, I had to grab a few shots at the lake:

Was a gorgeous day and couldn’t wait to hit my spot.

I’m intimately familiar with this route and the NC did not disappoint. Obviously, there’s no wheelie-out-of corner personality but she really rails in the stuff.

The additional 100+lbs she carries over my Hypermotard is worn low and barely noticeable while carving the corners.

Yes the suspension is lacking but hawtdamn, is she fun!

After making quick work of the 35 miles of paradise, I decided to take a detour.

There’s this short single-track about half a mile long about 3 minutes from my house.

I hopped on and soon pinched a few star shapes out of my seat. The single track has been worn down with medium ruts from the equestrian traffic and recent rains.

I gingerly (10-15mph) bounced and rattled through all the while laughing like a kid.

Feeling emboldened and cocky, I ran over to this open pasture behind a nearby creek.

I must’ve been hungry because someone served up a nice big slice of humble pie.

The bike must’ve been full a because she insisted on a nap on the (very soft and loose) side of the hilly knoll...zzzzz “nappy time right now!” She says to me

(Guess she wanted her belly to be rubbed).

The knoll has a slight grade, maybe 3-5%, and she wanted to sleep with her wheels facing uphill. I don’t remember struggling so much to ever lift a bike. Then I remembered, I’d never been off road with a bike this heavy. I struggled to rotate her right way round to get her wheels downhill. Her racks and handlebar had dug in to the soft not-so-firma-terra.

I was so happy to have an audience of one, a neighbor was happily watching from his deck about 150yds away on the other side of the creek. He waved and said he’d help but I declined. I wanted the pie all for mahself.

I found that weight she had so sneakily hid in the corners; she was a beast to pick up as I slid around to gain footing.

20 minutes felt like an hour but it was fun and quite the experience!

I’m ready for more!

Follow up to the mess above. Got to work on it today and it is now looking considerably better.

Nice shot! I didn’t know the nc was offered in metallic lime?!?! Looks good!
Thanks! It wasn’t offered in metallic lime.

If you want real colors, you have to paint it yourself, or pay to have it custom painted. For the US market, Honda is not known for straying far from their same old, “play-it-safe” red, black, and grey paint colors. The recent blue offering was a refreshing exception.

I also once had an NC that I painted burnt orange, but it has been sold.

I installed the Garmin. I think I took way too many screws and pins off and it became dark and cold before I could get it back together. So I have a big bowl of screws and pins and don’t really remember which ones go where. I will have to study up.

Also I had forgotten what a pain the battery is. The positive cable is not long enough to work with when reinstalling it after putting the wires to the post.

Took a short (50 mile) ride in balmy 40 degree (F) New England weather. Tried out my new battery powered heated gloves. They worked great. Only needed the medium setting and hands were warm. https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Waterproof-Windproof-Motorcycle-Touchscreen/dp/B08MC5YJKT

Going out again Sunday! Can't get enough of the NC750. Maybe I'll spring for a set of cheap hand guards. They're going for $36 on eBay.
Anybody tried these?:

Looked at it.

Walked past it.

It is snowing today. Didn't ride it. But I did move some stuff that was too close to it.
