Anyone else liking what they see from the NT1100? It strikes me as an NC with everything I wish it had. Some actual HP, bigger interactive display, better wind protection, and some luggage standard. The closest thing to off road my 2016 NC has seen is hard packed gravel at a park, so the faux off road appeal wasn't why I bought it. I'd prefer something better set up for long distances (maybe a flat seat from factory lol), but a Goldwing isn't in my budget.

I have no interest in the NT1100. Plenty of past sport touring motorcycle models had “actual HP”, better wind protection, and some luggage standard. There is nothing new here. I looks like a low cost attempt by Honda to temporarily fill a gap in the product line using another existing model as a platform. Honda sport touring models come and go in the US, as they apparently don’t generate great sales numbers.

Shaft final drive would be a requirement for me in a touring motorcycle. The NT1100’s chain drive scratches it off my list.

The NT could be of interest if the optional automatic transmission is important to a buyer, and they weren’t interested in the latest Goldwing.

There are other threads going on the NT1100, and some people are excited about it. https://nc700-forum.com/threads/honda-nt1100.18449/

I definitely like my DCT. I've shifted enough gears fir a lifetime. Even for my starter bike, I get bored quickly if I'm not on twisty, hilly roads. Could prob sell it for 2-3 grand more than I paid last spring. The NT doesn't make me howl at the moon, but just strikes me as an upgrade to my current ride

Not interested. My NC is a fabulous touring bike as is. If I were to tour with a partner, I'd consider it. The NC is not good a good two-up tourer

Do you have the stock seat, and/or the rig job to level it up as needed? I find I can do maybe an hour before my butt starts yelling at me. Definitely spend time standing on the pegs periodically, which isn't always relaxing on the highway.

Honda lately seems to put more emphasis on seat cosmetics than on seat comfort. It would be wishful thinking to assume the NT1100 seat is any more comfortable than the NC’s seat. From what I have learned from trying 7 seats on my NC, my first reaction upon seeing a photo the NT’s seat was that it was a torture device, particularly that pronounced thigh/buttock cutting ridge.

In the 25+ motorcycles I have owned, only two came from the factory with a seat that was comfortable. They care about styling and cost more than rider comfort.

I bought used. The previous owner installed a Sargent seat. I've never ridden on the stock seat

If I was bike shopping and didn't own an NC then I might pass the NC for the NT. But not for the horsepower. I just don't see the NC actually lacking power for daily street use or even for touring. More is better attitude mostly gets you higher initial and higher ongoing operating costs. The NT is attractive only for the added features. And I'm still not sure I'd make that choice. Add in the costs of the Madstad and the luggage cases some extras and I'm still many thousands below the cost of the NT. I would appreciate cruise control and a bit more wind protection in the cooler months. But the NC is just such an easy bike to love.

Had the NT been available in September when I was bike shopping I would have given it a serious look. I even asked the salesman about it and he said they had no timeline for if/when it would be released in the states. The added HP ans cruise control would have been nice. I find the low cg, ease of maintenance, and frunk big pluses for the NC.

I will give it a serious look when it comes. Not that I don't like my NC 750, because I do, but the NT has additional features that appeal to me. Will require a test sit to see if I am tall enough, a backwards push at the dealership to see how difficult that is weight and center of gravity wise and if it passes those two tests, a test ride.

THE feature on the NC (imho) is it’s practicality. What I’d really like would be an NC DCT with shaft drive, 65-70 hp, and electronic cruise control. Oh, and a better seat. That to me would make an almost perfect light tourer. I’ve been the Sport Tourer (Yamaha FJR) and big ADV bike (Super Tenere, Tiger 1050)) so a big hp bike/heavier bike’s not on my wish list. I could be tempted by a Guzzi V85T if it had tubeless tires and there were any dealers

No Frunk, no way for me. That and the MPG. The NC is the best commuter bike on the market today. For the price I don’t see this ever tempting me.

Maybe this one will be different. From MCN tester:

Based on the Africa Twin the NT1100 is unsurprisingly spacious (the riding position is canted forward 10 degrees from its adventure sibling) and the seat is so comfy there’s neither a leg stretch or bum-shuffle during our day’s riding at the Honda’s world launch near Barcelona.

Maybe the seat is good, or maybe not. One day’s ride means nothing on a touring bike. Ride it three weeks straight and report back on the seat comfort.

It may be a comfy seat. No two butts are the same. What one person finds comfortable is not for others.

I came from a sport tourer not far from this range. I decided to move to a lighter bike like the NC, so I will pass on the NT. If it was 10-20 kg lighter and had a shaft final drive, it would be interesting to me.

The bike that would make me jump away is the same or less weight than the NC and maybe a bit more power. I'm thinking it would be not need to be bigger than 850 cc to meet that criteria. I've grown to love the DCT and I might just consider that a must for future bikes, but I don't know yet.

I hope to check out the Tiger 660 Sport soon but I suspect it will feel too small and cramped for me. The NC barely fits me. The Tiger has the same front Showa fork as the 2022 Honda CB500X. Will the next NC do the same? Will it have dual front disk brakes, too?

There are rumors that the NC is getting a displacement boost. I don't think it really needs much more power but it would be more appealing if it did. But the NT is a different class of bike and I think it will struggle to get buyers with it not having a shaft drive. I think sport tourers in that range really need it.

I'll probably stick with my 2021 NC, which I am mostly happy with. I really enjoy riding it and I think it looks great.

Can't see the NCX getting any modifications for a year or two minimum. It's just had a refresh.
I would like to see the 1100 DCT engine in a naked road bike like the NC750S we have over here.
Never happen unfortunately as they only sold 10 :)

Well considering some say they cant ride for an hour or 50 miles without pain on the NC seat, a whole day without complaint on the NT would at least indicate a more comfortable seat. But there is no way the seat is going to please everyone, that would be impossible.

Ive watched 4 of the NT 1100 test ride videos and all have mentioned how comfortable the bike is (although not specifically the seat) .

Ive also only see one that said the windshield could be kind of noisy, the rest have not complained about windshield noise

All of your points are 100% correct so it is pretty much impossible to disagree. But that said, I think that most buyers will buy this bike for what it actually is, not for what Honda promotes it to be as a sport touring bike. No different than the logic applied by most buyers who purchased the NC, marketed as an adventure bike when it really is not and will not be used that way by the vast majority of owners. I like the NT quite a bit, but, like you, I do wish it had shaft drive and an on-the-fly or electric adjustable windshield and suspension like the AT AS ES. That said, if it is announced/available when I am ready to buy, I'll give it strong consideration.
