Read, read, there are at least 10 significant improvements to it. Half aren't even mentioned in most videos and articles. Also, none have CC so don't even mention that.
There is no need for us to debate the merits of the latest NC model years versus prior years. As I said before, there are choices among the various 11 model years of NCs, and hopefully something for everyone. Just because Honda touts changes as improvements, doesn’t mean everyone is going to appreciate them. I view some of the latest changes as setbacks, diminishments, retrogressions, degenerations, etc., and that solidifies my opinion that I don’t even want the newest model. If I had no NC now and I was shopping, I would intentionally avoid the 2021 and 2022 models.

In summary, I suggest we recognize that not everyone is going to view the 2021-22 as an improvement. Again, debating the merits of one over the other will get us nowhere. I hope everyone is happy with their choice.

Some of the reported improvements in the 2021-2022 NC never materialized here in the states, for example self cancelling turn signals, and emergency braking flashing light in rear. i was disappointed in that.

Agree with 670cc, seems a bit of a silly argument. We are all fans of the NC700/750x. Some of them are different. Each has merit. Love the ride you’ve got.

I am excited about my ‘21, and would have been just as excited about the ‘19, regardless of the differences.

DCT might take a while to become second nature

Please list the 10 improvements as you see them.

I can't say they are all improvements but there are probably 10 + differences

Updated body work, new windshield, updated gauge package, increased horsepower, increased torque, revised red line allowing more rpms, less weight,1st 2nd and 3rd gear lowered for better acceleration, taller 4th 5th and 6th gears for better fuel economy and less rpms while cruising, dual bending valve front forks, lowered seat height, improved seat shape and padding, a programmable user mode in electronics, increased frunk capacity, better stock tires with the Metzler Tourance tires vs the old Bridgestones, ride by wire throttle, LED lights all the way around, (in Europe self cancelling turn signals and emergency flashing brake light), slipper clutch for the manual clutch version,ABS is std, and the redesigned muffler is a little more "throaty". It also has angled valve stems but it may have had those before, I'm not sure.

I'm not saying one bike is superior to another, that all depends on what features are important to YOU, I was just noting the differences between the pre 20 models and the 21+ models

Thanks, I hope to hear the other forum member's list as well. We all see changes differently and as I was in this same position a year ago I'm interested in the calculus that led to his conclusion.

The ride by wire throttle was that one change that I would really appreciate on my 2019. I appreciate features on all three generations. I would like to be able to have a menu that allows me to pick and choose features from all three generations and make one complete motorcycle!

I did read read. I watched lots of videos too. I don't see "10 significant improvements" over the prior generation. Yes it weighs a couple pounds less. Yes it has a dash screen that does more. Yes it is ride by wire. Yes it has pretty plastic. Different windscreen. Slight gearing changes. Lower seat. Apparently the seat slope issue is improved. 1 extra liter of Frunk storage. Blah blah blah. None are significant. Please enlighten me what you determine "significant" to be because I really don't see any compelling reason to 'upgrade' to a 2022.

Having pride in your ride is always a great thing to have! I’ve learned that trying to convince others to conform to your mindset typically ends with a defensive stance being taken. Honestly, as long as your happy with what you ride, that’s all that matters. When I raced MX, I didn’t have the newest motorcycle, or all the latest features the magazines talked about. But as my skill and speed increased, I found the frustration of others who had the mentality that they were “supposed” to better because they had the newest bike, latest gear, all the extra’s the magazines told them to buy. I have had more conversations in the pits about how can I ride an old worn bike and was I afraid of it breaking down. Once I classed up out of novice to amateur, I needed to compete on a motorcycle within 5 model years of the current year so I bought a 2 year old model and didn’t ride any better or faster than I did with my older model, despite all the great suspension improvements and horsepower increase etc…

For the legal road riding capabilities our bikes were designed for, the differences amongst model years is insignificant once you realize that skill outweighs the brochure.

The modding many do to the bikes is meant to personalize the motorcycle to the users wants. What works for me, may not work for someone else. But it would be illogical for me to stand-off with someone to convince them that my choices for my needs are better than their choices for their needs.

I agree, I'm not saying to run out and buy a new one and if I had an older one, I might keep it too. I'm just saying the 21 and 2 are a better choice if you are in the market for one. They surely are for me because all of the 10 or 15 changes are a plus to me. Of course, everybody is different, and it reminds of how much my grandfather loved his model A.

None of what I listed is actually a significant improvement. I'm still waiting to hear what you think is significant? I see no compelling upgrades. Literally none. More ride modes? Not compelling. So what do you have?

You almost had me agreeing with you, except for your second sentence. You are still stating that the 21 and 2 are a better choice for everyone if they are “in the market for one”. I think the pushback you are receiving suggests otherwise.

As I said before, if I had no NC and I was shopping for one, knowing the details I know about all the model years from 2012 to 2022, and knowing from much experience what I want in a motorcycle, I would not buy a ‘21 or ‘22. There are earlier model years that are a better choice for me.

Buy what you want, but as was already said, trying to convince others to align with your tastes is futile.

Out of curiosity, I‘m still looking forward to the aforementioned list of 10 significant improvements.

Not going to break it all down just for a forum post, you will just have look at a lot of videos and read a lot of reviews like I did. What is compelling to you probably wouldn't be for me. That's why Baskin Robbins has 31 flavors.

So respectfully, what you are saying is, that you really don't have anything to say other than to tell people, many of whom have already looked it up, to go look it up.

I'm happy to discuss these bikes, my wife and I like them so much we both ride them. I looked long and hard at the new version. It came up lacking. I don't deny it is lighter. Very slightly. I don't deny the seat is lower, but a lowering kit is under $100 for the older models. I actually prefer the 2018 LCD dash panel to the 2021. Replaced the windshield on both of our and would do the same to a 21+ model year so it would be more suitable for long distance riding comfort. It has more riding modes but the '18 has 4 main riding modes plus multiple traction control modes for each of the modes, how many do you actually use or need?

You have not listed one single compelling difference but continue to tell me to look deeper. I did that. The improvements were too shallow to consider.

I'm not going to spend a half hour researching the bike and make a long list of improvements on the newer ones just to have people argue with me. There is nothing to argue about and like the mod said; I'm not going to change anybody's mind. If you like your older model that's great, I hope everybody likes what they have. I bought a '07 Lincoln Navigator in mint condition, brought it home, and my neighbor doesn't like it because he hates chrome...........what can I say?
