Seat Concepts Seats

I'm 6'1 ~35" inseam. I did Rox Risers, lowered pegs, slope mod, and finally seat concepts. With those 4 mods I finally got to where I could ride all day without any real issues. Did an unplanned iron butt running 1,200 miles in 24hrs straight without too much discomfort.

Doesn’t sound too promising. I’m really leaning towards a Laam the more I think about it as other options don’t seem to be comparing for what I’m looking for and I’d rather spend more and really enjoy it than continue to run through different options.
I'm curious how much Seth Laam is charging for a seat. Have you had one before?

I haven’t had one. Heard about him here. @TNHoosier got one recently but just the front. His site says 549 for vinyl front and back, 399 front only. I’d be doing both as I do two up. Maybe even spring for heated seat for the front for another 135 since I’ll commute to work as long as there isn’t snow on the asphalt. I’d imagine shipping could add close to another 100 as well.

Thanks. Here I go making things complicated again. Apologies. Have you compared opinions or attributes of the three seats? I knew the SC would be less firm than Corbin, both would address if not correct forward slope, and believed that both would substantially improve comfort.

I have the Seat Concepts (SC) on a '20 NC750X.
I initially suffered from the forward slope issue with the OEM seat.
I was constantly pushing myself back away from the frunk every few minutes.
I couldn't ride more than 30 minutes without grimacing in discomfort over the pressure on the front of my pelvis and junk LOL.
The SC helped somewhat; it raised the front of the seat by about 0.5".
However, that didn't solve the slope problem entirely.
The SC is thicker and has more padding than the stock seat, so that felt good.
The solution for me was the mod of raising the front of the seat by about 1.5".
That mod has been talked about a lot and if you look at my post #21 in this thread, I go into full detail of how to go about getting the slope mod done via 3D printer.
Now, the combo of SC and slope mod makes the seat unnoticeable over a 2 hour ride without my having to dismount, or stand up on the pegs, or slide backward on the seat, or try to adjust my underwear and junk while riding.
So, don't expect the SC to accomplish anything miraculous; it won't do much except make the stock seat a bit more comfortable.
But try the slope mod in addition, and I think you'll be pleased.
I forgot to mention I also have the Knight Industries lowered foot pegs ( about 30 mm lower than stock).
They bring my feet more forward, lessening the knee bend, which in turn may very well help the seat slope issue.
I did rotate my handlebars slightly towards me, but didn't need risers.
The handlebar reach and height are now perfect, and I'm actually more comfortable on my NC750 than I was on my Goldwing F6B.
Hi BB. Does the 3D printed bracket leave a substantial gap between the frunk and the seat? If so, any issues you’ve noted? Thanks. Mike

My free advice is that if you taking into consideration a recommendation for a seat from someone else, be sure your body dimensions are similar, particularly leg inseam. I had heard so much good about Russell Day Long, but tried one and hated it. Turns out the typical RDL lover has a 34”+ inseam. I don’t.

LAAM is a custom seat based on information he gets from you. I requested the additional height to fit me. That is the benefit of a custom seat, it is designed to fit you. RDL offers a 'sport' seat which is foam only (no spring) for those who cannot tolerate the additional height added by the internal spring.

The triangle definitely matters, risers work wonders. Can’t imagine the bind my cables would be in with that much rise. I was able to release two clips to make my current ones work but anymore I’d probably be looking at ordering a cable stretcher :)
Standard cable and wire lengths on an NCX will not work with over 2” handlebar rise. My cables, brake hose, and wire bundles have all been lengthened or replaced with longer versions to properly, with standard routing, accommodate up to 4 inches of handlebar rise.

Hi Mike.
Yes, there is a fair sized gap between the seat and frunk.
I used some black foam hot water pipe insulation to fill the gap.
I cut each piece to length, and since the foam is already split to wrap around the pipe, it fits neatly along the seat/frunk gap.

I took 3 pics for you.
The first pic shows the foam in actual light with camera flash. You can hardly see the foam.
The second pic I have played with to better see the foam. In reality, the foam looks very similar in real life to pic 1 and nothing like pic 2 in terms of colour and glossiness.
The third pic shows the new clearance between the front of the seat and frunk, and is a non-issue in my books.

I’ve definitely been doing the deep dive on opinions and such. Customizability and price of the Laam is what’s driving me that way. Reason being the Corbin being more expensive and lack of pillion options from others. It’s nice that Laam is a much more personal experience and will modify if needed if I’m not satisfied. I’m just going to have to suck up being without the bike for a bit and wait for a production date.

So very true. I’ve given more weight to those opinions of similar frame/builds as me. I fall in the 34+ inseam category though so a RDL style may be up my alley

Good to know and I hope I don’t have to go that route

Since I pulled you here, and sorry for hijacking mz, is the Laam still working out for you? Searched your posts but didn’t see you mention a more recent impression of it.

Extending all handlebar cables and wiring was a lot of work, but along with tall risers, was one of the best mods I’d done to the NC. It put the icing on the cake for long range touring comfort.

I can imagine. The rise and back my risers gave me was a huge improvement.

I am completely satisfied and enjoy the NC much more now that I have a comfy seat. I have ridden about 2300 miles with the new seat and have zero complaints.

I’ll blame you if I don’t like it then given your rave review :) . Called a little bit ago to set a production date up. He’s scheduling out to mid august currently. Seems familiar with the bike as I think he mentioned he gets a lot of us guys lol. He had me fill the form out partially and said he’d get back to me with the official date.

Go right ahead, I get blamed for everything anyway. ;)
Just tell him exactly what you want.

Sounds about right on the schedule. I called in November and got a Feb build date.

Something similar to your requests would probably work for me as well. Got some time with a sore rear end to take some notes and try a couple things until shipping it out to get an idea. Might fancy some red thread though but definitely sticking with the vinyl.
