Question Soon-to-be Honda NC750X owner. I have a few questions.

Here is today's message from my dealer;

Brent,

Here I am being the bearer of bad news; Honda has pushed pack 90% of our order 28 days. The NC is showing a new release date of 8/28.
I know this probably isn't what you wanted to hear, but I want to keep you in the loop as much as possible.

Like I mentioned in the past, if you really want one, you need to travel to pick it up. The dealer in Port Angeles, WA has a DCT in stock. They are located in the farthest NW part of Washington State, so it might be there for a while.

DCT for sale

Thanks, but it is probably overpriced, my truck gets 14mpg, and I went 30 years without a bike so I will keep waiting..........

From what I could find $9,200.00 is the 2022 list price. The dealer may negotiate a lower price. As far as your truck only getting 14 mpg. I'm in Ohio and got a mid size one way car rental to pick up a car I wanted that was in Florida. It was cheaper than paying for shipping.

I had no idea. Too bad they did that. The easy on and off made the bag a jewel.
I am awaiting my 2022 DCT which should be at my dealership on August 31st (+/-) & also like that Givi tank bag thus I'm wondering if I ordered the "bars" so to speak that run along the top of the trunk from a 2021 would they fit on my 2022 & thus I'd be able to use the bag - I betting that the holes/attachment area would be the same & that only the bars with their openings underneath would be different.

I assume by “that Givi tank bag”, you mean the EA116 mentioned in post #3. Sure, you could probably put ‘21 NC750X frunk “bars” on a ‘22, but it wouldn’t give you any EA116 attachment slots. I think you should be investigating whether you could take the trim rails from a ‘16-‘20 model (that have the bag attachment rails) and put them on a ‘21-‘22 model. There is no body work change going from ‘21 to ‘22. If you look on line for photos of 2020 vs 2021 NC750X body styles, and compare, I think you’ll see that there is more to it than a simple trim swap. The body plastics and the frunk lid are significantly changed for 2021-2022 compared to prior years. I think you’d lose the bet.

congratulations on your new 22 dct. you're going to love it.
have you been given a confirmation on the delivery date or a vin # on the bike?
i'm hoping it's confirmed as it would be contradictory to all the info i've been receiving on expected deliveries in late 2022 or spring 2023.

My dealer lets me see the weekly Honda Inventory Report that they get every Tuesday so that I can follow my bike. In July my bike was pushed out to Aug 31. The next week the date changed to Aug 15. Aug 8 the report indicated the bike was shipped to the warehouse. On Aug 15 the report reset the arrival date to Sep 6 and changed the status to "order accepted". This is the second time I have been through this exercise since Mar when I committed to purchase the bike.

My dealer has yet to receive a NC 750 of any type since the 2021 model was introduced. One DCT model was placed on order when the 2021 was introduced - it never showed. The order was changed to a 2022 model and it still hasn't arrived.

I have purchased over a dozen new bikes from this multi-line dealer and I have total confidence in them. I have zero confidence in Honda and their inventory control and reporting system.

Tomorrow I will check the report once more. I never know what to expect,

Let us know what you hear. I ordered mine in January and I patiently wait for updates which a far between, but I don't bug the dealer because I know he hasn't forgotten me. It amazes me how a bike can't be built and delivered within 8 months. If they don't get it in soon, I will be considering next year's model.

I will let you know in a few hours. I wouldn't be surprised if we end up with '23 models - especially if nothing is changed for '23!

There is always the possibility that there won’t be a ‘23 model. Honda could skip over it and in mid ‘23 just introduce the 2024 model, or perhaps unlikely, discontinue the NC750X for the US market. Anything can happen.

I’m still waiting. Placed a deposit June 1st. I have two other dealerships with my number if they’re notified of pending shipment. I’m keeping my fingers crossed but I’m losing hope

I agree with you! Anything can happen. ... I am headed to the dealership for my weekly visit and "bs" session. Will report back.

Just got back from visiting with my dealer. My status has remained the same, (1.-Order Accepted) and the estimated ship date moved from Sep 6 to Sep 9. My bike is also listed as "OG" - Order Guaranteed. (I have asked three Honda dealers for the definition of "ship date" under status 1. - order accepted. None of them could define it. My best guess - it is the projected date the bike will arrive in the U.S. and is available to ship to one of the Honda warehouses

Thought I would give all of you the "Order Status Codes" and "Order Type" designators used in this weekly Honda Inventory Report:
Order Status:
1. - Order Accepted
2. - Order Pending
3. - Pending Warehouse Scheduling ( my bike has reached this status twice, then reverted back to order status 1 with an extended ship date change.)
4. - Scheduled For Delivery
5. - Shipped
6. Invoiced (when Honda invoices the dealer for the bike there is a good chance your bike will arrive at the dealership within 5 - 10 days)
Your bike may not hit all of the status codes above.
7. - Order Cancelled
8. - Cancelled With Reference Change

Order Type:
BK = Bank Order
DU = Distribution Order
OG = Order Guarantee Order
RE = Regular Order
I do not have definitions for the various "Order Types"

An asterisk (*) is placed behind any date change in the report so the dealer can easily spot the change in status.

I hope this information helps some of you when communicating with your dealer about the status of your NC750 order.

I don't communicate with the dealer because it won't change anything, and they know I am the first on the list. I probably would have many years ago though :). I need an auto trans bike and don't like the other models they offer so, back to waiting..................

Ah, I should probably clarify. I have the SW-MOTECH crash bars. I wanted them on the bike before I ever rode it off the lot. They call their skid plate engine guards for some reason. Perhaps I misunderstood what was on their website, but it appears what they call their engine guard is just a skid plate. A very expensive one I might add :(. I just dunno if I need protection from roots, rocks, etc.
I have gone down curbs several times and nothing hit my undercarriage.

The only time I've kissed the asphault was when I went over a section of parking lot where tree roots had severely pushed up the tarmac. My suspension compressed as I went over the bumps and it bonked against the top of a root/pavement upwelling.

I now have a scratch on my oil pan that I forget about most of the time. Even when I change the oil.

I've done about 200-300 miles of off-pavement roads. Forest service roads, fire roads, that kind of thing. No single track. Even plowing through huge potholes I've never hit anything with the undercarriage before. I only found issue in this one decrepit lot.

If your wallet is weighing you down, but your bike isn't, crash bars and skid plates on a street bike can be cool.

The only necessary accessory for the NC series is heated grips.

Just got my weekly Honda Inventory Report update:
2 wks. ago - Status 1, Order accepted, Expected date Sept. 6
1 wk. ago - Status 1, Order accepted, Expected date Sept. 9
This week - Status 1, Order accepted, Expected date Nov. 29, 2022!
Several other bikes on this report also got moved to a Nov 29 date (Gold Wing, Rebel 1100, a couple of quads).

As stated in an earlier post, my dealer placed an order for a 2021 750 XD when the model was introduced. They have yet to receive a 2021 or 2022 NC 750 of any type.

I am totally frustrated with Honda. I have basically been waiting for a 2021, 2022 for 18 months. This is my second "wait session". On the first session I gave up and bought a Yamaha 2021 MT 09 SP. I am about to throw in the towel again and get a Yamaha Tracer 9 GT. At 75 I don't have a lot of years left to ride and I want to try out several bikes before my last ride!

Kawasaki, Yamaha, Triumph, KTM and BMW are getting product to dealers in Indiana; why can't Honda at this point do the same?
