If it's helpful to know.
Sometimes people complain of seats being too high. The S model sold here, rather than the X has a 30mm lower seat height as standard, so that helps. You can get the X lowered and phhonda fan has done this. Problem then is that the OEM centre stand will not fit but he's getting an alternative one

40mm lower actually :)

I'm 5'2" and don't find it oo high. The bike has such a low center of mass that sliding a cheek off the seat is within my comfort zone. I'm pretty sure if it were a VFR or another big top heavy machine it would be drop city but not with the NC700X.

Edit: Great, my second post on this forum and I've revived an old thread.

It's not patronizing when you can't see the woman rider. Patronizing is when motorcycle salesman try to get me to look at Viragos because they have low seats. When I am standing in front of them, having ridden up on my Super Ténéré. Which I flat foot. Doh!

Well I'm new...and reviving the thread again LOL. I'm 5'1" and have considered lower my new NC but I have been riding 11 years now and like a challenge. I can't touch both feet at the same time but just the balls of my left foot are all I need. Now that I have the full luggage set, it sits a little lower and if I slide off a little I can even flat foot on one side. Only hard part about this bike is getting the kick stand up And getting used to pushing it around (it weighs 100+lb more than my GSXR).

This pic is me on the bike while up on the centerstand. I think there is a good 8 inches under my feet LOL

Apparently as the post thinks I'm on the other side of the planet. Why is my picture upside down? LOL no I'm in Georgia in the US

Solution to Problem - Park real close and next to poles

Agreed...... poles, kerbs, earthen banks, petrol pump stands, cars etc etc. Not on my NC but my KTM 690, especially when the Airhawk is on the saddle. I once did three laps of a petrol station forecourt before I was able to find a suitable pedestal to get off it. The attendant thought I was up to something but laughed when I told him what was going on. A friend who has the same bike and a little shorter than me, brings his leg over while still coming to a stop and then jumps off. My old bones will not bear up to that trick. Another trick is to put down the kick stand while in a straight line, then brake and lean it over. Best done on even ground though !

PS, welcome to the forum Hokie

Griff, that vision of jumping off the bike while still moving slightly had me in hysterics!
Before i got the side stand chopped, when id already had my bike lowered, i used to ride into car parks, forecourts etc stop, try to put the too long side stand down and move off again if i couldnt, the Portugese must have thought me mad as a brush. I still have to do that now but now its because the dealer took too much off the stand and im frightened the bike will actually fall over :)
Hello Hokie, i laughed that salesmen try to sell you cruisers, just before Christmas, i rode to a beach - parking right in front of a bar, a middle aged man watched me park, secure the bike, remove my helmet and sit at a table nearby. When we made eye contact he asked - is that your bike? (Who's bike would it have been, there was clearly only me?)
I replied - no mate, i just stole it. (With no hint of scarcasim). Honestly - he shrugged and said no more but watched me out the corner of his eye til i left......go figure??

It is totally true. He is a couple of inches shorter than me. He is also a very good offroader. His shortness has bred this technique over many years, so he is very proficient at it, both getting on and off. It looks totally cool. For dismounting he is standing on the left peg with his left foot, and the right has already been brought over the saddle to be hanging beside the left as the bike is approaching a halt. Then as the bike comes to a halt he drops onto the ground. He simply cannot get both feet on the ground when he comes to a halt so, if he has to stay on the bike he makes do with the left foot.
