    2018 Goldwing DCT

I get about 50 mpg with my AT. It's hard to believe that would be physically possible with the new goldwing.

    Feeling Discouraged

That mileage is not high at all. If you really wanted to sell it privately, you'd get considerably more than what the dealer offered you. Personally, though, I would only sell it if you feel that the extra financial boost would be more satisfying than having your bike there waiting for you...

    Rebel 500

I've read many positive accounts about the new rebel. That's awesome!

What an Africa Twin but Tubes Scare Me!

8400 miles so far on my AT, no flats yet, but I have the tools to take care of it when it happens. I figure I'm not worried about tubed/tubeless until it becomes an issue (which it may very well not). I'm pretty sure the Tubliss system is not rated for highway speeds. No one has posted about...

Looking forward to the new version

That's precisely why I bought my Africa Twin. The VFR just wasn't a good fit, although I wanted it to be.

Upcoming tour - questions for experienced tourers?

I actually LOVE planning trips. On longer trips, it's harder to stick to a schedule, but for a long weekend like this, I think you're safe to make accommodation reservations as long as you plan your routes ahead of time. If you're in a pinch, booking.com works well on the road. The key is to set...

Really hot. Do you you ride?

I've read about this in articles about riding safely in extreme heat, and I do think I've experienced it for myself. I have a mesh jacket that I never wear, mostly because I really like my Gore Tex Klim jacket so much more. While the textile jacket does get quite warm, and I wish a few more...

I agree. Obviously adventure bikes are a study in compromises, but since you're looking at having two bikes, you might as well specialize a bit more in what you're looking for. My friend with both an NC and a KLR rarely rides the KLR because he just likes his NC that much more in general. I...

Really hot. Do you you ride?

I've ridden in 100 degree weather, but I prefer to stop at about 95. I'm ok as long as I have water and keep my skin covered to protect from the sun, and pay attention to my body and energy level. I tolerate heat better than I used to.

I have two friends with KLRs, actually @gunnut37086 on this forum owns one. Are you wanting something more off road biased? Otherwise I don't see how you'd benefit from the move.
