First ride on "clutch-less" Yamaha FJR1300AE

Hmm, yeah, I don't think that's a known issue with AE, so it may have been user error. I'd never ridden one before this video, and during a couple of U-turns it behaved nicely. I kept it in 2nd when stopping/starting, per my buddy's suggestion. Seat time is the best trainer for anything new.

First ride on "clutch-less" Yamaha FJR1300AE

You are correct. It was a weird riding the AE at first, knowing I had to shift, but with no clutch lever to "feather" or feel the friction zone. The AE did a smooth job at slow speeds, especially when I kept it in 2nd gear when stopping (red light) and starting. And the power (as I knew from...

First ride on "clutch-less" Yamaha FJR1300AE

I agree. My previous FJR1300A was one of my favorite bikes during the past 45 years. Painful left-hand arthritis prevented further clutch-pulling and forced me into the NC DCT world... which has been wonderful. The "clutch-less" FJR1300AE I test-rode in the video is great, but it still requires...

First ride on "clutch-less" Yamaha FJR1300AE

I used to own a (manual transmission) Yamaha FJR1300A, but I've enjoyed my 2016 NC700X DCT for the past 5 years. A friend asked me if I'd like to ride his "clutch-less" FJR1300AE, and this video is the result.

Question 112 or 114 length for replacement (520 pitch) chain for my 2016 NC700XD (DCT)?

Question: 112 or 114 length for replacement (520 pitch) chain for my 2016 NC700XD (DCT)? The local Honda dealer just told me 114 (after I reiterated my bike is a DCT, not standard), but I'm 99% sure I need 112 length. Thanks in advance!

    How to release taillight clip?

I don't have much mechanical experience, so sorry if this question seems too basic. I want to install an inline taillight flasher (Vizi-Tek SupaBrake), but I don't know a) how to release the top tab to separate the two halves of the wiring connector, and b) whether or not the bottom of connector...

2019: What did you do to/with your NC700 today?

https://youtu.be/gF7Tr_E5jRU This 40-second video shows three items I just added to my 2016 Honda NC700XD: 1) a second Fiamm horn, 2) a headlight modulator and 3) a radiator guard. Two years ago I replaced the stock horn with (a relay and) a single, low-tone Fiamm horn. This second one is the...

First impressions: new Madstad 20" windshield

MiG: Per my photo earlier in this thread, I have my 20" Madstad all the way down and tilted with top furthest toward rider. Ideal angle will depend on rider's torso length and riding position. I don't use risers. I'm 6'0", 32" inseam.

First impressions: new Madstad 20" windshield

The light gray tint reduces glare a bit, while still maintaining excellent see-through of the road directly in front of the bike. I never considered clear. Madstad says light gray is the most popular choice also. (I've seen photos of the dark gray version... it looks like your bike's been...

ATGATT ... really? I mean really?

Dress for the slide, not for the ride. Me: ATTGATT, meaning full leather jacket and pants (+ leather boots, gloves and FC helmet) all year 'round.

Finally arrived: New Givi EA116 tank bag designed for the NC

You can see the new Givi tank bag in this photo from my Dana Point ride today. Secure at 80+ mph speeds. Easy to access water bottle at red lights, etc. (Before this I used to leave my frunk ajar/unlocked for water bottle access. Now the frunk stays closed/locked.)

Finally arrived: New Givi EA116 tank bag designed for the NC

Silver: Well, if you SQUISH the Givi bag, I guess it would fit inside the frunk. I plan to keep stuff in both locations (frunk and tank bag). Yes, I saw Twisted Throttle as "out of stock" too. I ordered/paid, then a month or so later... voila! It arrives!

Finally arrived: New Givi EA116 tank bag designed for the NC

Red: Yes, and yes! Full access to fuel/frunk lock, and frunk opens as usual with bad attached. :-)

Finally arrived: New Givi EA116 tank bag designed for the NC

After a 2+ month backorder wait, I just received the new Givi EA116 tank bag from Twisted Throttle. It's designed to fit 2016+ NC700X/NC750X. It fits securely, looks good and detaches quickly so I can easily take my "stuff" into a restaurant, etc. I'm not a fan of panniers, so this new Givi...
