2016: What did you do to/with your NC700 today?

It's been a while since Ive been on here. Yesterday I installed Racetech Emulators with 0.85 fork springs. Emulators set using the yellow springs with 2 turns out. Set the sag for the forks at 29mm front (using 190mm spacers) and 30 mm rear sag (had to turn lockring nut 5 full turns!)

    Biggest rear tire?

I agree 100% on this. Even when I race I run an unorthodox tire set up that even a lot of tire vendors scratch their head at. On my Ninja 250 race bike I run a 120/70/17 front whereas the stock size is 110/70/17. Ive run all different set ups from a 90/17/17, 100/17/17, 110/17/17, and a...

Yes, a 180 rear tire will fit (so far)

Tire width doesn't necessarily change tire life. It may just change the footprint and handling. So far the handling didn't feel different when on the NC700x. My experience with Bridgestones is that their compounds are the softest. For example, their medium compound is equivalent to other...

    Biggest rear tire?

I actually just made a post about this too. I put on a Dunlop Q2 180/55/17 rear tire (was a track take-off...but the Q2s are high performance street tires) and it fit just fine and performed just fine on a 170 mile commute. The post is titled "Yes, a 180 rear tire will fit (so far)" if you...

Yes, a 180 rear tire will fit (so far)

Hi everyone, It's been a while since I have been on here, and I wanted to just update everyone on something I discovered. My girlfriend (CandyStripes327) has an NC700x and she wore out the rear tire commuting. Money has been somewhat tight yet we have plenty of track day take offs. 180/55/17...

    Valve Adjustment Step-By-Step

For the plastic timing cover--to install it back correctly you need to use a 0.10mm feeler gauge that you place between the cap and the engine block. Tighten the cap to the 0.10mm feeler gauge. Remove feeler gauge and tighten the cap more to only 30 degrees.

Valve Adjustment Video - Step by Step, DIY Guide

That is correct. Use the line on the lower side (4). I made the mistake of using the upper line (2) when I first did the clearance check. It seemed odd that all valves seemed close to if not beyond zero lash, but I adjusted anyway since the other thread mentioned dont be surprised if the bike...

    Valve Adjustment Step-By-Step

Well, I finally did this...twice in a span of week for CandyStripes327. The first time I was using the top line instead of the bottom line for the timing on the right side of the bike. I found it really odd that the first valve check had practically zero lash, but I continued anyway and...

    NC at the Track

Pretty sure. She has a Gen 2 SV650 and the Ohlins shock part # for the NC700X was listed on here I believe. It turns out that shock is the exact shock she has that she had on her SV650. She since replaced her SV650 Ohlins with a Racetech G3-S Custom shock since she needed a lot more...

    NC at the Track

I know we talked about it before. We actually have an Ohlins shock for the SV650 that it turns out will fit right in. It's the same serial number/part # between the two bikes. I know she mentioned trying to sell it, but if she can't I may convince her otherwise to put it on. As for the...

    Front Suspension upgrade?

FYI, Belray weight oil when compared to other brands is equivalent to 15W. Belray tends to run heavier than labelled. So essentially you are already putting 15W in there (when measuring true viscosity). The opposite holds true with Torco. Torco runs lighter than labelled. I run Torco Fork...

    Front Suspension upgrade?

Your most likely skipping sideway when downshifting to 2nd or 1st because you're either not modulating the clutch properly or blipping downshift properly. This is commonly seen in beginner and intermediate track day riders. The rear wheel skips sideways because of the back torque produced...
