Hi from The Netherlands

Long time no write... It has been a strange and difficult year due to divorce issues, too much physical and mental stress in a new 12-14 hour/day job as a truck driver so I lost that job (but kept this experience), followed by the Corona. Got therapy and am slowly recovering. Despite the causes, I'm able to relax and clear my head, now better and more than in April. You may think that I ride as much as possible, but due to financial setback I cannot. I try to ride once a month and when I do, after 5 minutes my head is clear and I have a wonderful day. I'm also fortunate with being reconnected with my mother, sister and brother-in-law. They have missed the person I was before marriage. Family is all.

So... Meantime I know I can keep the house (and mortgage) what I call home since 2003, with the offered help from my family. Therefor I started several DIY-"Man Cave"-projects for interior (illuminated bedside tables, mediarack, TV-cabinet, bathroom) as well as the green garden which won't be green afterwards. The plan is a large shaded terrace, a small sun terrace and a 110 sq.ft. Western style cabin for secure parking and maintenance of the motorcycle. Not all in once of course but one at a time and depending on available budget. ;)

I'm René (45) and own an 2003 Yamaha FJR1300A. However, due to acute rheumatoid arthritis which started March last, it would be a smart choice to replace it with a lighter bike once the RA is under control in a few months. So I asked my motorcycle shop to find me a Honda NC750X DCT. I like the looks and trust on many owner reviews I've found so far.

I would like to have installed some additional items like an engine guard, center stand, Hyperpro front & rear springs and Clearwater Glenda lights beside the radiator.

My goal is to ride again by August 3rd this year because it's my birthday then...

I've owned both the FJR1300, and the NC700X. Welcome to the boards. There are good people here ready to help.

Hey Rene' welcome back. I too completed my treatments and they went very well for me. I recently had my last follow up with them and still a clean bill of health and low acid levels. Sadly i too just ended a nasty divorce, 27 years. Happily, i too recently got really nice 2015 NC700XD DCT and am so enjoying it! SO, I can reiterate what was said before about riding as much as you can. It has been a sweet time of good mental health for me. Sadly i am entering our winter/snow season here so i am covering/storing my bike for the winter. Keep in touch and post often! :{)

I know, here the activity keeps on kicking. Lots of useful knowledge and good advice based on experience available too. I try to do my (small) share as well.

I (still) sometimes do miss the FJR1300 for its comfort and power, but love the NC for its ease of handling and running costs.

Congratulations on your good health then!
I can happily admit that in the past year, I enjoy my own company and long talks with myself. ;)
My 87 year old mom sometimes try to hook me up to a nurse when I accompany her to the hospital for regularly check-ups. LOL
Oh well, as long as the targeted nurse rides a motorcycle, it's fine by me.

Here in The Netherlands on average our winters aren't that cold but often mushy and wet. In November there usually are some nice dry somewhat chilly days to enjoy a ride. For me next riding season starts in March to discover the new routes designed during winter.

Here, in Southern California, it's been a long hot summer. 'Rode around in 114 F (45.5 C) one day just so I could say I'd done it. Now it's 45 F, (7.2C) and I ride around to enjoy the cool feeling again!
