Greetings All:

I've come back to a 2018 NC750X, and I'm farkling it up. Some questions for the Forum, if I may:
  1. I'd like to mount the Touratech Zega Evo Panniers, like tewster2 showed on his ADV Rider build posts (see attached photo). Unfortunately, Touratech no longer makes a NC750X-specific rack for them. Does anyone have suggestions for how to mount them? I could have a custom rack fabricated, but that's probably more than I want to spend. Some have suggested getting a rack from another vendor, e.g. Givi, and then welding Touratech's rack hoops to it. This too, doesn't sound pretty. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

  2. I have a red 2018, but I plan to paint it grey, the same color as the 2016. My shop tech will remove the panels to be painted. Does anyone know what the cost would be to paint the panels versus plasti-dipping the panels?

Many thanks. GregT

1. Sorry, I don‘t know.
2. I’m drawing a blank on this one.
3. Just going by my poor memory, I think when I painted my 2012 orange, it cost me almost $200 just for the automotive quality paints and materials. When I paid someone with a real paint booth to paint the second set of grey panels lime green, it cost me around $350. On both I did all the panel removal and installation. There might be someone out there with a grey bike that would love to have red, and maybe do a trade?

Greg, thanks for responding. Swapping with someone who wants my red sounds like the best idea. The color I want is the dark grey on the 2016. Not sure if the panels from the 2016 fit the 2018.

FWIW, I own a Grey 2016 (wife's bike) and a Red 2018 (mine) The panels are identical and will swap. I'm not interested in swapping but your panels will swap with any 2016 to 2020 NC700x/750x.

Thanks, Melensdad. Good to know. Now if I can just find a 2016 owner who wants a little red in his/her life!
