Ya, I guess I’ll send the seat out west to Laam or could do a Corbin.
In my experience, in a way Corbin and Shad are night and day seat choices, but they may be more similar than I initially thought. The Shad has super soft foam that feels great for awhile, then crushes down on a long ride to where it feels like you're just sitting on the seat pan. The Corbin is rock hard from the get go, which I guess sort of also feels like sitting on the seat pan. Opinions will vary, of course, but that was my take on them.

Kinda glad the Shad didn’t work out for my bike. I had a Corbin on a Versys. I loved the dished out foam. Really fit well on my hind side. I can’t stand a seat that compresses easily.

My Email to Shad USA (I ordered direct from their website)

Hi, I ordered the seat 6 weeks ago, was told there's an 8 week backlog, and now, I'm hearing from the NC-750X forums that you guys are discontinuing the seat.

Question: are you honoring my order or cancelling it?

Response.

Thank you for reaching us.

My Response

Carlos,

While I have not been charged for a product I'm not going to get, I take issue with the fact I've been waiting patiently for 6 weeks. During that time I could have gotten another product, but I wanted yours so I decided to wait.

Not exactly thrilled with the situation here. I'm not mad that the product line has been discontinued (OK, a bit-- it should not have been offered for sale), I'm mad that it's been a month and a half I've been patiently waiting and I only find out when I reached out to you and not with you letting me know as soon as the issue became apparent.

Terrible customer service. Time has a value. If you are going to cancel an order, let the customer know so they can make other arrangements.

Sadly I have had a negative experience with Shad as well. I think the products look good but service is terrible. Not sure if it is just the US arm. For the same money I would buy product built by others.

Update: They offered me 15% off my next purchase. That's nice and all, but they sell bike-specific stuff and don't carry products for the specific bike I own. They could offer me 75% off with the same effect.

(I already have a luggage system)

Unsurprisingly, FedEx has lost the package. I don't know when it will be delivered. Stay tuned...
Fedex is a nightmare. Al of my FedEx packages get routed through Mississippi. I have had packages delayed twice this year due to bad weather in MS. One package was from IN, the other from MI. I live in TN so they had to go past me to go through MS.

Just ordered the Sargent seat on RevZilla. It came 2 days later and was on my bike in minutes.

The rear sear is a cover to match the front, but I'm holding off on that for now. Having slightly 2 tones of grey isn't sufficient to offset the effort of actually putting it on. It's going into the box of all the OEM bits I've kept to include with the bike when or if I someday sell it.

Is your bike a 2021 model year? Revzilla shows that seat for 2020 but not 2021, so if yours is a 2021, that confirms there is no problem mounting the older seat to the new bike.

I've got a 20. Not sure if there have been any changes to the seat per se, but as I recall, the body did undergo changes, so I'd assume there may be some changes to the seat, however minor.

I rode it into work this morning. It is firm after riding on one of those air-bubble pads, but it cups my bottom lovingly like a politician on a powerless intern.

Sargent seat arrived today. This seat is intended for models up through 2020 and we haven’t yet heard how well they fit on a 2021.

I can confirm it did mount securely on my 2021. However, the seat outline clearly is different and does not match the contours of the bike. See photos. If you don’t care about appearance much, it might be fine for you aesthetically. I’m not sure myself.

As for comfort, that is very subjective. It is much firmer than the stock seat. I think it will require a couple weeks of riding to see for sure. It has the padding in the right places, feeling supportive on the two pelvic high points in the buttocks. I haven’t test ridden yet.

I have to decide if I want to keep it and if so, I’ll spend some time with it and let you know.

Saldog thanks for being the trailblazer in investigating the Sargent seat for the 2021.
