Okay, so I want to change the oil and replace the oil filter and the clutch filter. I can find NOTHING on what oil filter to use or what clutch filter. On this forum people say "the standard honda oem filter". I don't know what that means. Surely honda makes several oil filters for cars and motorcycles, right?

Please help!

The OEM oil filter to use is the 15410-MFJ-D01. The DCT gearbox filter is 15412-MGS-D21

Oil filter has been covered on here many times. As I don't have a dct I haven't paid attention to clutch filter talk. Here is a list of oil filters directly from another post

For those of you that have done an oil change could you please verify the oil filter size. Is it the standard oil filter size that Honda seems to use on about everything recent? If it is the list below are acceptable filters. Read up the Honda filters are not the best available

These Oil Filters

Also note that there are 2 parts you are supposed to replace when you change the oil on the DCT NC700X: an O-ring with the clutch filter and a crush washer for the drain plug. Sorry, Don't have the OEM part numbers immediately available. Finally, google JASO T 903 to find a suitable oil or just buy the oil from your Honda dealer. (I found it on sale at Autozone.)

I looked at this thread- and it was absolutely no help. This guy wants to confirm that these oil filters are correct. Nobody said that they were! They just said, "oh, yeah, the standard honda oem is great".

Thanks for being a bit of a jerk about this though, gpd211.

Wow! If this is how you react to someone trying to help you out, good luck to ya!!

+1.... Wow, man .. this is so wrong....!!!! I think you yould offer jpd211 an apology, Nch734!

You are not going to make many friends here with this attitude, that's for sure!

GPD211 was letting me know I should have done a search first, and then showing me that a search would have revealed the answer. He should have 1. read the thread he posted, as it offers no help, and two- left out the part about oil filters being talked about so much- implying I shouldn't have posted. Oil filters have not been sufficiently covered here, and I did do many searches. I'll await his apology to me.

The answer is in that oil thread, but it is not so obvious. All of those 20 x 1.5 filters will fit. I'd recommend the Purolator One longer size $6 on Amazon.

While you may or may not have gotten snippy replies, your dumb ass phrasing of your original post certainly encouraged it. The stock OEM answer is fine. When you go into a Honda motorcycle dealer and ask for an oil filter, he is not going to give you one for a car. Honda seems to think that is so blatantly obvious that they don't even list part number in the owner's manual.

Perhaps you wanted to know exactly what aftermarket one would fit. Much better question. Why not ask it?

As to the clutch filter, as far as I know, the OEM one is the only game in town. As such, the part number is irrelevant. Go to your Honda dealer. But you can also ask here if there are third party filters available.

Apology to you? Sheesh.... I don't see his answer being close to a "jerk" you called him!
JPD2111 goes out of his way to offer help the best he could, you insult him and you expect an apology for that?
Get a life, man!

It's said there are no stupid questions, only stupid answers. it looks like nch734 is new to the game of vehicle servicing - so he asked a very simple, easy to answer clearly, question. Sensible to do so - and he got a couple of sensible responses with specific part numbers.

If you've never done it before it might not be immediately obvious that the dealers sell parts over the counter as well as fitting them through the workshop. The manufacturers' literature is geared to push using the official dealer workshops.

If you don't know the business it's sometimes difficult to know what question to ask and how to ask it - it doesn't take too much from those that do know to answer with a bit of empathy or sympathy - we all start knowing nothing.

And he was helped and given the answer. Calling a helping person a "jerk" is what pissed me off!

Calling the guy a jerk was wrong and would piss anybody off - but the answer that provoked the very impolite response wasn't that clear either - it took a lot of working out from a lot of unclear information. The guy making the answer has clearly got a lot of information to hand - but could probably have given a shorter, clearer answer too that wouldn't have confused the questioner.

It was probably unintentional - but the implicit message from that list of information was "You dumb**** don't you know anything?"

Sorry, Chris! I don't see it that way...
I absolutely did not see any "implied" message in the response.
Usually, when someone wants to find dirt - they find it anywhere.....

In my relatively short time on this forum - I have never seen anyone reply to help (of ANY value) with such haste.
JPD211 has clearly stated that he does not own a DCT and yet, tried his best to help.

I really do not understand your position in defending the offender!
This is not a paid for professional service, where people are always expected to get a correct professional and concice answer every time. People just try and help the way they can.
And that should be appreciated!!!!

The part number may not be relevant to you, but it's exactly what I needed to know. The closest honda dealer to me is quite far. I'm ordering the parts online. Thanks for calling me a dumb ass though.

Read again, I didn't call you a dumb ass. I said it of your phrasing of the question and that still stands. I had to make a guess myself as to what you wanted, and only now do you tell us what you really wanted. So I wasted my time supplying information and got no thanks for it. Nor did anyone else for that matter.

If I'm not mistaken, everyone selling filters online will provide a search based on brand, model, and year. Even Amazon. But if you just wanted a part number of the OEM filter, all you had to do is ask. Generally anyone asking online about filters are looking for non-OEM parts. Honda dealers will also mail order. Lots of possible solutions to your question, including clarifying it when you don't get the answer you want.
