    Michelin Pilot Road 4's deal

I’m not familiar with a Michelin Pilot 5 product, but if the $237.99 is a bit high, a Michelin Road 5 can be bought and shipped in the USA for about $220 (if that helps). https://www.americanmototire.com/street-cruiser-touring/michelin-road-5-160-60zr-17-69w-rear-03574-mc.html

Electric Bikes: A Lot Of Promises, But Where Are They?

The electric motorcycle industry could greatly benefit from better battery technology and more widespread support and infrastructure for rapid changing stations and/or battery swapping systems. If we were farther along in those developements, we would likely have more and better electric...

I don’t know what exact thread you refer to, but it should be noted that the forum software and server has changed a time or two over the forums roughly ten year life. I notice that some of the earlier threads can no longer be found during a search. Someone may have memory of and mention a...

Stopping at a light? You're probably doing it wrong.

Right. The NC manual clutch lift bearing is well oiled and should be as reliable as any other bearing inside the crankcase/transmission case. Like you, I have never heard of the clutch bearing wearing out. The bearing, I believe item 24, costs $14.

What did you do to/with your other motorcycle/scooter/trike today?

It was perfect weather for a camping ride, so I headed out for a two day ride on the Goldwing to a state park campground in Missouri. The weather was around 60 degrees F with lightly overcast skies to keep the burn of the sun away - my favorite riding weather.

    Anti-Theft

We have scooters and each has a parking brake. A Zero electric motorcycle may have a parking brake, too. So, it’s not a totally unheard of thing in the 2 wheel world. There are theft methods where the parking brake isn’t going to be a deterrent anyway.

2022: What did you do to/with your NC700/NC750 today?

On one side, the bracket has a hollow pin that goes into a mount. The other side has a bolt. There is no need for two bolts, since with the one bolt in place, neither side can go anywhere and the radiator is secure. The R&G brand radiator guard adds a bolt to the blank side for securing their guard.

    Need Help Clutch switch failure

Glad you are on your way to success. I have cheap aftermarket levers on my ‘12 NC and never had any problems with the switches. I wish I could recommend the specific brand but I’ve had them for probably 8 years and forgot the details. I’m pretty sure they were purchased on eBay.

2022: What did you do to/with your NC700/NC750 today?

On my 2012 NC700X, in stock configuration, there is only one bolt securing the top of the radiator. Consult an illustrated parts listing for your model.

    Need Help Clutch switch failure

First of all, what year and model motorcycle are we talking about? Second, when you did the trial start in gear with the clutch switch contacts shorted, what was the position of the sidestand? On my 2012 manual transmission NC700X, the wires from the left handlebar go to a connector along the...

Cluster has power but won't turn on

It sounds like you have a resistive connection at the battery or in other power distribution systems. You perhaps have voltage at the cluster if it’s 24 hour power, but when you turn the ignition key on, you add additional loads and voltage drop through a resistive path, and thus your...

90 Miles Per (US) Gallon on the NC700X

I am a motorcyclist and I consider all of my motorcycles and scooter to be toys. I have never commuted on a motorcycle and never will. I don’t run errands with motorcycles. My sole use of motorcycles is for pleasure riding, to go visit family, go on long distance travel/camping trips, or ride...

Cluster has power but won't turn on

Get the schematics for the motorcycle, and a voltmeter, and trace voltage until you find where it’s lost. Start at the battery, then through the main 30 amp fuse, the ignition switch, and on until you locate the failure or open circuit. Since you say you get “nothing”, which I can only assume...

    DCT failure

You don’t seem to be asking for help, rather just describing your experience. To get “rid of the damn thing”, you can list it in the For Sale section here: https://nc700-forum.com/forums/bikes-parts-for-sale.33/. Late model DCTs seem to be in demand. Good luck with the sale; I’m sure someone...

90 Miles Per (US) Gallon on the NC700X

The mileages stated here are with E10. You didn’t miss it; I failed to mention the gasoline type used. All that was run through my 2012 NC lately was 87 octane (R+M/2 or PON) labeled as “up to” 10% ethanol blend. Only in very rare cases when that was not available would I run a different grade...

    Seat Concepts Seats

When I asked a Corbin owner on an NC700X that same question, I got the same answer, that the slope still remained somewhat. I did not ride the bike myself, so I was not able to confirm.

2022: What did you do to/with your NC700/NC750 today?

No, it doesn’t make sense. The ring only changes the ride height, or what is known as the sag. The ring adjustment allows you to put the suspension in the ideal point where you can utilize the available suspension travel without topping or bottoming out. There is no way to adjust the spring...

    Seat Concepts Seats

Extending all handlebar cables and wiring was a lot of work, but along with tall risers, was one of the best mods I’d done to the NC. It put the icing on the cake for long range touring comfort.

Stopping at a light? You're probably doing it wrong.

Pretend that a car bumper hits the middle of the rear tire, the most aft piece of the motorcycle. Motorcycle is pushed forward. Front tire simply slides on the pavement even with the brake applied. At the time of impact, due to the force from the rear, the rider loses grip on the front brake...
