I sold my SD a couple of months ago. I bought it new in 2008 and it was probably the most fun I've had on a bike!
Only used it on sunny Sunday's but I do miss it.
No, there was no warning that the cable was on the way out. It was working fine and then it didn't!
It was my fault for the kink - I cable-tied the cable to some auxiliary wiring which put a loop in it. There's a small plastic clip holding the cable to the flange around the tank and the extra...
Finally got round to having a look today although my two bits of string have worked well over the last couple of weeks!
The outer sheath had split allowing the cable to kink so it wouldn't pull through.
I also changed the air filter while I was in there as I forgot to change it at the 32k...
Must admit I never worried about it either! At least now there's a thread so anyone else who has the same problem can find a solution. I was lucky and had enough petrol to get home.
The bike is a 2012 with 47k miles on it by the way.
Not had chance to look what's actually failed but when I do...
Thanks lootzyan, the 5mm hex key trick worked great although it only releases the right hand catch. I slid a bar under that side of the seat and it gives just enough room to get some pliers in to pull the catch to release the left hand side!
Now I need to work out why it won't work. Seems to...
Yes, tried pushing on the seat while turning the key and there's nothing under it either 1- thanks for the suggestions.
About to head to the workshop for round 2!!
Went to fill up last night and I can't pop the rear seat to fill up!
Frunk opens fine and the seat worked ok last time I opened it.
I've taken the lock surround off this morning and pulled the cable but it won't budge so I'm assuming the issue is at the seat end of the cable. Tried pushing...
Went to start the bike last Monday morning and she was dead - not a thing!
Anyway I've had chance to have a look today and found that the ignition wire had completely corroded through on the connector block. I've cut out the OE block and fitted a new one to sort the problem but a bit suprised...
Z900 street fighter - nearly back together!
GSXR1100 - probably my favourite bike ever
KTM 990 Adventure in the Alps
My Sunday fun bike
My new Adventure
Not tried them on my NC but have done 000's miles on both 990 and 1190 Adventures on trail attacks 2's.
Great grip in dry and wet but I don't ride off road so can't comment on that aspect. I get about 4500 miles out of a rear but I guess that's not comparable between the bikes.
I was riding along and the bike dropped out of gear and I coasted to a stop. Bike started fine but wouldn't select any gears. Fortunately it was only a short push home! Fixed under warranty and my dealer hadn't seen the problem before.
I've done 22,000 in the last 14 months - only problem was a gearbox sensor at about 5,000 miles. 112 mile a day commute and getting 68mpg but a bit heavier on tyres and chains than I was expecting.
Mine lives in my new workshop with the rest of my toys. Had to get rid of my Koi pond to make space though.
I'm starting to think I should of made it a bit bigger...
I've got the Trax 37 litre panniers on my KTM Adventure and they seem to be good quality and well made although I haven't done that many miles with them yet. Just need to get the racks so I can use them on my NC too!
Apparently the sensor was £110 and easy to change. According to the shop it takes time to sort as Honda kept asking them to try stuff as they're still gathering data on the DCT.
Bought mine as an ex demonstrator three months ago and done over 7000 miles so total mileage now 9000. My commute is 112 miles a day.
Gearbox sensor went at about 4000 miles but done under warranty with no problems. Took two weeks to get Honda to agree and local shop to actually fix though...
I have a cover on my 990 Adventure from easirider and it has an elastic cord around the edge so it's easy to get on and off. Makes it all day comfortable and stops the pillion sliding forwards too!
Not sure if they have the NC pattern or price so I've emailed them to find out - I think I'll get...
