I've gone every year for the last 5 or so. I go with a bunch of San Diego friends that are on plated dirt bikes riding from Mesquite, NV. We stay at the Bar 10 ranch, lots of fun. This year I rode down from Denver and had a spectacular couple days of riding through the Rockies and out to the...
5 times, all the weekend before last. The first time was in foot deep silt on the way out to Toroweap overlook at the Grand Canyon; I'd made it through several silt beds before that but the last one was deep.
The other four were the very next day:
The only reason I can think of not to buy one is that for the same price you can get a used KTM 1190 Adventure, $4k more you can get one new.
It is a really nice looking bike, can't wait to take one on a test drive.
I did it last weekend. The only painful part was removing the original factory oil filter without having the specialized wrench for it. Ended up hitting it with a screwdriver and hammer until it loosened up. Replaced with a K&N that has the nice built in nut on the top of the filter.
I removed the entire tail assembly so I could flip it around and see if from all sides. I'll take a look at my service manual and see where the hidden screws are.
Thanks for all of the suggestions. Ended up going with the National V Stream N20007 which works perfectly. This weekend will be the first long test, going from Denver to Rapid City, SD for a quick overnight trip.
From what I remember of installing P3 LEDs you can't take that bolt out until you have the lens off the mount point. You can take the rear apart without removing that bolt.
The change of shape was my problem. On the website I ordered the SD-Sport model that is the smallest on the bottom. The model I received was the Adventure which is the new shape for the NC. It appears to be wider on the bottom than the SD-Sport is. If I was running the stock bike the...
I bought a Madstad 20" and besides being way too big for my purposes it was at least an inch or more away from clearing on each side. i already cracked an Ermax screen at full lock. I didn't want to take the chance with another one.
I'm in the process of trying to return the one I bought because of the same issue. I needed at least another inch on each side and that was with the bars set back on Rox Risers.
Edit - guards I have are Barkbusters Storms
I've gone through a lot of the threads on windshields and have seen a couple that I think may work but I want to see if anybody is running this specific combination.
I would like to know what windshields will work with both Barkbusters Storm handguards and Rox Risers. If you are running that...
YMMV based on what you like to listen to. I had a buddy in San Diego that had it installed on his dirt bike, he wouldn't ride anywhere without it. I have had it in the car and rarely listen to it.
My issues is the targeted channels. You have to select something (like classic rock) and that's...
Beemer - Good clarification, I didn't think about the low/high beam switchover at all and you are right, the $35 for the sub harness and relay are not a huge price to pay.
Couple questions:
Do you have the Honda aux socket (that means you have the Honda relay kit as well)?
Would you be comfortable installing a relay if you don't?
When you say "independent system" do you want the lights on their own (new) switch or hooked into an existing switch?
I'm not sure...
