Thanks for OP for starting this thread, I had no idea these things even existed. I've been using my old smartphone with either Google Maps or (when I want to create a very custom route) OSMand. For Google Maps, I get data by tethering to the wi-fi hotspot on my regular phone (it uses...
Finally getting around to posting these pictures. I took a week and headed west from Yokohama to Shirahama in Wakayama Prefecture; then to Kumano in Aichi Prefecture; and finally a couple of days in Kakegawa in Shizuoka Prefecture. About 1500km total.
The first day was almost continuous rain...
Wow, thanks, that's the first time I've seen something like an SD card 'extension cord.' I'll look into that. My only concern might be adding more connections and more complexity to a thing that I'm counting on to just work. It's great to know that's an option, though!
Hi, long time no see, everyone. Sorry I have been AWOL from this forum for a while. Winter here was colder than usual, and even though we don’t get much snow, motivation was low and money was tight.
Two days ago, I took a spur of the moment overnight trip from Yokohama down to Shimoda at the...
Thanks OP for starting this thread! I have been wondering what everyone does to 'organize' their frunk. I have a sort of miniature knapsack I picked up at a thrift shop but then decided was like a doll's knapsack with no practical use, so I put it aside. Now I put it in the frunk for long rides...
I finally got it together to go camping for one night at Uchiyama Farm Campground in Nagano. Some great roads once I was out in the country. Getting in and out of the Yokohama/Tokyo area continues to chap my ass.
We are starting to get some mid-80 degree weather, with high humidity, but it was...
I have a Wolfman Expedition Duffel, large size, that I bought about 8 years ago. Image below is from the Wolfman site.
I managed to find the receipt in my email . . . I must have been feeling pretty flush at the time. Right now this thing is selling for $160 on the Wolfman site. Even at the...
Monday I took a day trip on the bike from Yokohama up to Nikko and back. 405km—I left at 4:30am to beat the traffic—and got home at 5:30pm. That's a long day for a lazy person like me. I saw some new things, though, so that was nice.
Weather ranged between 16°C and 20°C (60°–68°F) but rainy...
Thanks for the report. I'm also coming directly from a '77 naked GL1000, so it's interesting to hear your comparison. Gas mileage, low maintenance costs, and low price were big factors for me buying an NC. I'm still adjusting to the very low RPMs while driving. Agreed, between 3,000 and 4,000...
Interesting thread! Here in Japan, lane splitting and filtering is legal. My understanding regarding lane splitting is that as long as traffic isn't moving too fast, and you're not moving much faster than traffic, it's okay. Filtering when traffic is stopped at lights is really common as well...
Last week I took the bike out for an overnight trip to Lake Kawaguchiko. It's not so far west of Yokohama, but I took the long way around. Gorgeous, unseasonably warm weather for this time of year (20°C/68°F).
There was frost on the bike in the morning—uh oh—but it warmed up quickly. Hopefully...
Hi everyone!
I’m an American, living in Yokohama for the past 5+ years. I just picked up a still-new 2018 NC750X in October. So far, 1300 km on the odometer (just over 800 miles I guess), but really enjoying it so far. The weather rarely dips below freezing in this area, so I’m hoping to keep...
