Thanks. Good to know and surprising as I've owned 2 previous Honda shaft drive bikes and the biggest thing to have to keep an eye on was the lube (moly paste) on the drive splines and even that was only when one did a tire change. Even then it was rarely an issue. Otherwise they were problem...
I've been eyeing this as a possible upgrade for my wife's NCX. She's wanting to move up a little in displacement. Don't like the spoke wheels though but like the shaft drive and that it comes in a DCT model. Thinking about the 1200F too but I don't think she'd like the riding position. She may...
I had three at once at one time. They were a Honda VTX 1800 V-twin cruiser which had all kinds of torque and power but a crappy fuel range and no storage or creature comforts. A Honda Valkyrie Interstate 1500 flat-6 which had all kinds of storage and a nice fairing as well as a bunch of other...
Well not sure how "creative" this was but here's a couple pix of how I mounted it to my wife's DCT using the standard hardware supplied but in a little bit different configuration than recommended in the instructions. Could have done it on the left side but already had that black switch nicely...
Seems like ages since we have been able to get out on the bikes together. Sunday however the Fates converged and we were pleased to enjoy darn near perfect riding weather with the temps between 68 and 77 degrees and a clear blue cloudless sky. Wound our way through some back roads in PA for a...
^^^^I am in agreement with this response. This sounds very similar to the issue I had with my wife's bike and had I listened to the collective wisdom of the forum and had not convinced myself that the battery was still "too new" for such a problem and had not been fooled by it appearing to hold...
Well that I completely understand and it was probably a little of both. Very few people seem to tolerate the stock seat for very long. I've never kept the stock seat on any of the bikes I owned. Oddly though, the NCX is my wife's bike and she claims to be fine with it.
^^^What he said. Lot's of people have all kinds of special engine "break in" procedures. In a modern motorcycle engine these are mostly a thing of the past. As long as you don't do anything stupid like riding it at redline for an hour like the dealer said, it will be fine. Not even sure why you...
I had the Puig windshield installed on my wife's NCX with the Barkbusters and try as I might to position the handlebars and guards I could not stop them from making contact on the right (Throttle) side. It was a very slight contact mind you and just another 1/4 of an inch would have cleared it...
Ahh! I see. That makes sense. I rode across Oklahoma once. That was enough. They're not kidding in the song when they say, "Where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain."
Ok not trying to minimize the loss of life but seriously, no helmet...dumb. Texting on motorcycle...dumber. No helmet and texting in the fast lane on the highway...simply insanity.
^^^^Agreed. I only mentioned a 3 amp to provide a little extra wiggle room should one plug something in that has a slightly higher draw than a cell charger. Even my GPS came with a 2 amp inline fuse.
Unfortunately yes. I don't know your level of comfort with electrical modifications but several forum members have extended the circuit wiring so that the fuse can be re-located to the battery compartment. That way if/when it happens again you won't have to tear half the bike apart to replace...
What fuses did you check? If it's the OEM socket as you state, there is a 1 amp fuse hidden behind the left side body panel. That one will blow before the 7.5 amp fuse in the main fuse box.
Well sure, three of them but I feel the risk of both of us crashing and disappearing off the road simultaneously where there is no cell service is minimal.
