    Seat Concepts install

Sorry. I haven't been very active here recently. I don't think I took any pics of the mod. The seat is still on the bike and I'm happy with how it feels. I'm selling the bike right now, if anyone is interested. 2012 NC700X for sale w/add-ons 10,000 miles, $3,000

    Cheap and easy seat mod

I did the Seat Concepts install with that Harbor Freight pneumatic stapler, too. It works great!

    Seat Concepts cover materials...thoughts?

The Gripper material is REALLY sticky. I kind of think it's too sticky. I find that my when I slide around it's not my pants sliding on the seat, it's actually actually my underwear moving in my pants. If I were to buy it again, I think I'd get a different material.

    Poor handling

Keep an eye on tire pressures. Several people, myself included, have found dirt or corrosion between the wheel rim and tire bead areas. You can basically just break the tire off the bead, clean it, then reseat the tire. My dealership did it for free.

    Poor handling

For rear wheel alignment, don't rely solely on the marks on the swingarm. Using a straightedge (or fancy new laser tool), align the rear wheel sprocket straight in the chain.

Wrong Way A-Hole Driver, YOU SUCK!

FYI, this varies by state. From what I can tell, most states are actually the other way. You cannot use the uninsured.underinsured coverage in a hit and run. It sucks that the law sides with the hit-and-runner rather than the victim. I only discovered this after being hit in Indiana a few...

Handlebar inside dampeners / filling with silicone

No need to slide hammer. The weight bodies remove fairly easily once you disengage the locking tabs. The "body" is what I'm calling the portion inside the bar that the external weight attaches to. The internal body has a fair amount of weight to itself. Once you get one out, you should be...

    Baffle removal from stock exhaust

The baffle is about halfway down the muffler center tube. Maybe 10" deep, if I remember accurately. I used a 12" long #21 drill bit to start a pilot hole. Not particular reason for the size, that's just the longest bit I had on hand. I enlarged the hole using a Harbor Freight step drill on a...

    rpm and trottle operation question.

I notice the same thing when my engine is cold. I think it's just a result of the OEM fuel mapping being fairly lean (like most modern bikes) to meet emissions standards. The off-idle transition is one of the hardest operations to make smooth, even in old carbureted bikes. Now that I have a...

    Leaking Head Gasket

Also, it might be the vent line on the upper RH side of the valve cover. There is a maybe 1/2" dia black rubber line that vents the crankcase. If that line is not tight, it could also leak engine oil down the RH side of the engine. (All RH/LH sides as sitting on the bike)

    Leaking Head Gasket

The head gasket and the valve cover gasket are two different things. The head gasket is a much larger problem. From what you describe, it sounds like it's just the valve cover gasket. It's not a big problem. It can leak from being pinched or cut during reinstallation, from hardening over...

    Windscreen's Let's see em

Cee Bailey tall with MRA X-creen add-on and DIY holes. I moved, giving up my 4 mile commute for a 30 mile highway commute, so high speed buffeting had to be dealt with. I need the tall screen to get the air over my helmet, and the holes help to reduce buffeting over the top of the screen...

    Danmoto muffler mod and internals

New mod to the Danmoto. The instructions specifically state to only put the baffle in the inlet side of the muffler. Just to see what would happen, I put it in the outlet side a few days ago and I like it better this way. Now the volume of the muffler body is in front of the baffle, so it...

anyone buy levers off of ebay?

I have them and like them. They are like Harbor Freight stuff. The parts themselves are good, but the supplied hardware is junk. As mentioned, the tolerances are not very tight, which makes them a little "wobbly". I corrected that by removing the stock hardware from the adjustment pivot...

    Seat Concepts install

I did it myself with the Harbor Freight stapler. No problems. After about a year, I took the cover back off and carved the foam a little to remove some thickness in the back (decrease slope) and to add a coccyx valley. Reinstallation was even easier with the slightly shorter foam.

    My son's first motorcycle

I built one of these a few years ago with a Giant (brand) mountain bike with a junior size frame. A friend and got all the mods; expansion chamber, larger carburetor, solid hub-mounted sprocket, etc. Go to Spooky Tooth Cycles for parts and accessories. With a bicycle wheel mounted speedo, we...

    Battery cover screws

I would assume this means it is a 5mm thread diameter, by 15mm thread length. There is really only 1 common thread pitch for 5mm, which is 0.8. Most of the panel bolts used on the NC have an unthreaded shoulder, so if you are using a replacement bolt that is threaded for all 15mm with no...

And then I was tumbling down the freeway

I had a very similar story a few years back (2007-2008ish?). Coming home on the interstate at night, I was rear ended by a car merging onto the highway. The headlights were rectangular and far apart, so I'm thinking old Caprice or LTD or something. Anyway, the driver hit me hard and never...
