So… is a gathering going to happen this year?
(I’m sitting here in Cherokee right now, enjoying a beer and thought I’d look up the event… I went by earlier an empty looking Kickstand Lodge… got me thinking.)
Guess I’ll go with the thread’s heading: “Cancelled!”
I raised the front of my seat (seat slope “trick”), added a seat pad for another almost 2 inches (I’m 6’ 5”), used the lower position on the windshield, and finally added some rubber washers to the lower windshield mounts that pushed the bottom of the windshield forward to flatten the angle...
Great ride yesterday in southern Wisconsin. The first 50 miles was winding two-lane roads through hills, woods and farms. The second half was a fifty mile state trail that mostly followed along a couple rivers.
(Can’t seem to successfully attach pictures.)
I took a beautiful sunset ride tonight: a 50+ mile loop of backroads north of my house with lots of woods, a few farms, lots of water, some twisties, gravel, and very little traffic.
I’ve been working full time in the past three weeks building a 15 foot sailboat. Tonight was my first ride...
I think my NC is looking at me suspiciously as I am doing the first task in building a sailboat from the kit I brought home yesterday.
“Hey, what is that THING doing in my spot in the garage?”
Replaced my rear tire... It’s a challenge for me, especially the step of extracting the rim... just couldn’t pull it out. So, out came the saws-all. I won.
I tried a Madstad screen last year and decided I prefer not having a shield bigger than my original. I guess I kinda like the wind.
With the shield in the lower position the turbulence begins at my chin and my helmet is mostly in “clean” air. Even so, the buffeting can be noisy (I always wear...
I haven’t ridden my NC very many times this year... not complaining, it’s just how the schedule has been this summer.
On Saturday, I did a first for me by riding the ebike I bought last year in an organized 60 mile ride. Great route on nearby country roads. No traffic, few center lines...
American Family for my three cycles (plus three cars and a house.)
$100,000/$300,000 for about $100/year on each cycle... with Property, uninsured, comp. and col.
Nice 140 round trip this morning for a VERY brief time at work (kind of using the office as my reason to ride.) Used some freeway and county roads to get there but then looked for new roads (without center lines) that wound about through woods and field on the way home. Took much longer on the...
This thread stopped about when I bought my first slightly used 2013 RED NC (manual). Then, some months later, it went to my son so that I could buy a new 2013 RED NC DCT... and so that I could get back (from my son) my 2013 RED CRF250L. This was when I gave my other son an outboard boat I built...
Went into the garage for something and walked by the bikes. Thought I’d see how the NC battery is doing during this Wisconsin cold snap. Started right up. Sigh...
I start a new commute in November. Instead of 110 miles of boring 4 lane highway this commute of 65 miles has all kinds of road options through central Wisconsin... county highways, backroads without center lines, lots of woods right up to the road, interesting farms and homes, lots of slightly...
My 2013 DCT, that I bought late in 2014, has 27,000 miles, mostly from 2015 and 2016. My current 2-hour-each-way commute is very boring so I choose to drive my car.
No problems other than being dumb once in a rear tire change and I had to replace the rear brake sensor (THANKS Showkey for the...
I find S is what I use in city stop-and-go riding, and also in hilly or varying terrain. I keep it in D for most basic riding. Last week, in my third run through the Tail of the Dragon, I found it worked best for me to use M and to keep it in 2nd gear the entire way (it never downshifted.)
Last week, I trailered my NC from central Wisconsin to Pidgeon Forge for a few days of riding.... over 750 miles of the curvy parkways in the area.
Couldn’t make the NC Kickstand gathering this spring but I finally got out there this year for some solo riding. Great time. Nice weather. Little...
