First time rider buys an Africa Twin

Have any of you guys or gals seen this? I ran across it while looking at AT reviews. This guy has never ridden a motorcycle before and he walks in and buys an AT off the showroom floor. He looked at the NC700 but thought he would outgrow it right away. At least he got a DCT which makes one less...

    Renewed appreciation for DCT

Yesterday I took an hour-long test ride on a BMW S1000XR which I posted about in the Non NC700 section. It's a 160 horsepower monster that I have been lusting after for several months. Aside from the obvious power difference it rode a lot like the NC with similar size, weight and geometry. It...

I rode THIS today (kinda long)

BMW S1000XR This bike has been on my radar for a while as I have been looking for something with the acceleration of my Zero and the ergos, user friendliness and long distance capabilities of my NC. I haven't ridden a manual shift for a while and I was wondering how I would do but it turned...

Cell phone user nearly got me today

A little earlier today I was waiting at an intersection and when the light turned green I cautiously proceeded. I am hyper aware of people running red lights, people not paying attention etc. so I don't just take off without checking. Just as I was entering the intersection the car on the left...

    NC700DX meets M60A3

I have been fascinated with tanks since I was a kid so this morning I took a ride and found this one. I have always thought that the M60 was one of the nicest looking tanks. Now if only I could find a Tiger...

Does our key have a chip?

I lost a key today so now I am down to one. I have searched on the forum and looked at the owners manual but I cannot tell if the key has a transponder in it. If it does, is my only option to get another key at a Honda dealership? My NC is a 2015. I would think that it does have a chip.

Africa Twin question - re: wheel sizes

I would like to get some opinions from you dirtbike and dual sport aficionados out there. I rode dirt bikes when I was younger but I only rode them off-road and didn't venture out onto the highway much. Besides, I can barely remember those days anyway.:) I am seriously considering the Africa...

Follow-up on my new Leo Vince pipe

I must admit that I was a little surprised and a bit miffed at the criticism I got for my new, louder exhaust on my last post. Maybe I overstated the loudness of the new pipe but to suggest that children would have to plug their ears when I go by or that drivers could not hear their radios is...

New Leo Vince slip-on, what a difference.

I had really been missing some kind of exhaust note on my bikes since the Zero is a non-player and the stock NC is, well, not much better than the Zero. After much review reading, thread searching and YouTube listening I settled on the Leo Vince slip-on. I like the look of the stock pipe so I...

    My Embarrassing Drop

The other day I was backing the NC into the garage preparing to lube the chain. I had laid out some newspaper on the garage floor to go under the bike but as I began to back the bike over it (I was on the bike) I decided to avoid it because I knew it might go out from under me. My garage floor...

Break-in complete, surprised by the acceleration.

Today I was on a nice flat stretch of road between two twisty sections (Crow Canyon Road for those of you that know the Bay Area) when the bike turned over 300 miles. I had been anxiously awaiting the moment and the second it hit 300 I pinned it. I was rolling along at about 50 and I have been...

New DCT - SF Bay Area, what a bike!

I posted in the welcome thread but I wanted to expand a little on my impressions of the bike. A little background, sorry if this goes long - I am a returning rider coming back to motorbikes after a 35 year hiatus. Rode in college but decided go give it up and took time for career and family...
