Just finished a 10,000 mile month, mostly in long day doses with a few layovers. Several days were 750+ on twisty roads and several were long interstate hauls. I've added a custom seat, windscreen, throttle lock and auxiliary fuel cell. Wired for heated gear and charging my phone and Sena while...
An update: just put 10,000 miles on the bike in July; 6 days in a competitive rally over mostly twisty roads, then a lot of interstate to upstate NY before returning to Seattle. Handled great. I do have an auxiliary fuel cell that was custom made to double my capacity, which is really nice for...
I use LDComfort in all weather. In the heat I can get it soaking wet and it will keep my skin dry while it holds the water in and slowly evaporates. It is a bit warm in humid weather, but I'm not sure what works in that kind of wet heat.
I'm here now; been busy riding this summer. Put 10,000 miles on the bike in July between riding in the Butt Lite VIII 6 day competitive rally and then to NY for the BMW MOA hang around and visit rally. About to go on a women only campout this weekend on the bike. Purchased it with 2,200 miles on...
As an update, the book has been published and is available on Amazon, or you can ask your dealer to get a copy for you. Here's a link to the Amazon page:

My book, The Women's Guide to Motorcycling (https://www.amazon.com/Womens-Guide-Motorcycling-Everything-Equipment/dp/1620082098/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=) has a chapter on the history of women riders. It was a lot of fun to research, and there are some amazing women out there!
I don't find farkling hard, just expensive! :p
Working with a friend on a design for an 3.5 gallon fuel cell to expand my range. Stock tank just isn't big enough for longer distances.
Participating in the Big Money Rally (a five month scavenger hunt all over the US: BMR 2016: There is a road, no simple highway…) so plotted and rode a 1,029 mile route Sat-Monday with my husband. He's on a BMW GSA and I have no problem staying up with him. Started in the rain in western WA but...
I agree with kpinvt: read Don's articles about fatigue. When training for long distance riding I do quite a few things. Mentally I notice a lot: what tires me, what wears me out, what keeps me focused and what distracts me. What helps me stay on task, what bores me. I learn what signals tell me...
A friend of mine finished the 11-day Iron Butt Rally on it this past summer and it was on his recommendation I bought mine. I am setting mine up for long distance riding as well. Will be riding it in the 7-day Butt Lite Rally in July and routinely do 500-700 mile days back to back to back...
Thanks all for the welcome. Just finishing a break in ride from Seattle to Palm Springs (via the coast) and back (via I-5). Added heated grips and Gerbing controllers for the cold; much appreciated when the temps plunged to low 30s. I LOVE this bike!
I was asked to write this book by the same publisher as David Hough's Proficient Motorcycling, geared to women who ride. It's not a 'how to ride' book but a compendium of information any rider, especially a newer rider, might find useful. Chapters include a history of women riders along with...

Here is the new bike, still at the dealer, before bringing it home (and before putting on my gear!). Will post more as I begin working on it.
Hi all, new to the forum. Just got my barely used 2015 NC700 DCT and have begun farkeling it (sorry, married a farm boy, live on a horse farm but no farmers on this thread). Previously owned a V-Strom650, a Yamaha Majesty (scooter) and just finished the 11-day Iron Butt Rally on a BMWC650 GT...
I have the BMW C650 GT scooter with over 45,000 miles on it. Rode the 11 day Iron Butt Rally on it this past summer. It is a wickedly fun bike to ride, easily keeps up with my husband on his BMW GSA, has great weather protection, etc. Weighs as much as the BMW RT so not a great inner city...
