    Rider Magazine April 2019 Issue

Didn't even follow the link, did ya Mr. I Know Everything? Because if you did you would have seen that there was a dyno run graph, and those are measured at the rear wheel. Waiting with baited breath for the unsubstantiated conspiracy theory assertion that the graph is a hoax.

(Nc700) characteristics of a 270 degree parallel twin.

Honda calls for 10w-30 or 10w-40. Higher viscosity oils will only result in lower MPG figures.

Boot question - with a twist

Laces: Around town I wear low cut sneakers and double knot them, and that keeps the loops small enough so they never catch on a foot peg or the shifter.

    Multistrada Fever

You should move to Flat, Straight, Boring, Florida. Not many fun place to play with a bike like that here. Within a month you'll trade it in on a H-D or a Goldwing.

Most accurate way to check oil with a centerstand.

I'm quite sure the OP planned to start this thread on April 1st, but just couldn't control himself. Same issue he has washing his hands every 15 minutes.

    Odd Wear pattern PR4

Put the bike up on the center stand (if you have one), and check for slop in either the rear wheel bearings, or the swing arm by pushing/pulling the wheel from side to side.

    Fork Oil.

Really? What doe s that mean? Do you know for a fact what materials are used for those O-rings? Parker Hannifin O-Ring Hnadbook Going to pay to get the bike fixed if ATF screws up the forks?

    Fork Oil.

Honda Service Manual only recommends Pro Honda Suspension Fluid SS-47 (10W). Since there is a potential material compatibility issue with fork seals an O-Rings and ATF, I would personally only use something marketed as Fork Oil.

We get it, Honda gets it, but journalists don't.

I have yet to see a Bobber between Melbourne and MA, or OH. People go to Honda of Melbourne when it's too noisy in the local library to nap.

We get it, Honda gets it, but journalists don't.

According to Honda's annual financial reports, the NA Honda Powersports division is a money looser. Honda USA probably doesn't get much say over what models they get to import. The certification costs to get a model approved for sale in the US, product support, etc., are high enough that they...

    Dragging in first gear

A good functional test for clutch cable free play is to: - bring the bike up to operating temp - put the bike in N - pull in the clutch and shift into 1st There should be no change in engine RPM between N & 1st. If there is, use one of the cable adjusters to take out some free play. If...

Best Way To Untwist some Twisted Forks

Yep, final paragraph. I see lots of recommendations on the net for loosening pinch bolts and stroking the forks to straighten them out, but nothing about checking them to verify alignment.

Best Way To Untwist some Twisted Forks

The italicized section above by Junkie is how to determine if the fork tubes are in alignment. V blocks, dial gauge and hydraulic press is how I straightened a tube when I worked in a MC shop when I tweaked a fork tube on my bike. To avoid any possible issues with customer bikes, bent tubes were...

    Engine Fluttering Sound

The bike has a single throttle body and a bifurcated intake port in the head, so both cylinders receive the same air/fuel ratio.

    Timing Chain Service Intervals

My shop manual is about 1,000 miles away from me right now, but I don't think that there is maintenance call out for the timing chain.

Is K&N air filter really worth $63?

No, Honda doesn't design, or make, filters. Details of the engine to determine maximum required air flow, and air box dimensions so the filter fits are given to one of their air filter suppliers to come up with appropriate filter. Vehicle mfg's. are no longer vertically integrated. Oh, and just...

2019: What did you do to/with your NC700 today?

I'm up from FL in Marysville right now helping a friend with some house projects. First time I've seen that snow stuff in 4 years. Glad I'm out of NYC. From what I've here regarding the DTC is that they are generally reliable, but when there are problems there aren't many people (including...
