    Small/mid Adventure bikes have promise

And a Goldwing would do bestest in the crosswinds. Honestly, I have no issue with the KTM ADV 390 or any other motorcycle blend. My comment was just to suggest that one's choice of compromise in a bike depends on one’s needs and desires. There is no such thing as “better” until those are defined...

    Small/mid Adventure bikes have promise

Well... there’s something to be said for a heftier “adventure” bike when heading down a highway dealing with 50mph crosswind gusts. There’s no way in hell I would take my KLX250X 310-ish lb dual-sport on a long trip—been there, tried that, have the white knuckles and extra grey hairs to show for...

    carrying on...

I do hope the good folks here will restrain themselves from non-motorcycle related stuff. I’ve stopped visiting the ADVRider and BMW MOA forums because too many could not.

    Bridgestone Battlax Adventure A41

My BMW F700GS also came with Battlewings. Previous owner used more aggressive tires and kept the Bridgestones garaged until he put them back on for the sale. I really like ‘em and will not at all object to replacing with the same. The FortNine guy likes them too:

Lots of great photos, @greenboy! I hope to visit Montana and enjoy the beauty in late June if the BMW MOA annual national rally in Great Falls continues to avoid cancellation. :cross fingers:

    We still have motorcycling . . .

Fortunately there’s endless dispersed camping out here in the western states and I prefer that to campgrounds anyway. My six month moto tour is still a go, though I’ve delayed it by a couple weeks in order to allow the panic and hysteria to die down a little bit. Frenzied hoarders caused fuel to...

    Small/mid Adventure bikes have promise

I don’t know how much credence to give this report, but it’s saying that a middleweight Africa Twin is incoming at 790cc. Also two new NC models. Maybe take it with a grain of salt but it would be interesting if it happens. A bit off topic but middleweight adventure bikes came into the...

Intro--Getting back to riding after 20+ years, the NC fits me--.

Welcome, Jim! Yup, if I wasn’t retired and was commuting with a bike I almost certainly would own an NC7 DCT right now. It makes a lot of sense.

As Yuma, AZ, enters its brief Spring, it was a wonderful day to take a little ride. I needed to go into town—20 miles away—for groceries anyway. I’m pretty happy with my pannier choice. I debated hard vs soft, and what brand/model, for literally months. These are Brooks Autosports clear...

    Important New Software bug thread

On the previous board software I always had to upload elsewhere and put the image link here, otherwise it was changed to tiny size and low-quality. Test... Ah, this is easy and very nice, now. Thanks! (Size reduced by me in Snapseed on my iPad. Grand Canyon North Rim, from my volunteer gig last...

I was wondering what was up with the annoying Tapatalk lock-out ad that I couldn’t bypass. I thought I was going to have to give up this forum. Thanks.

    Forum problems?

It appears to be working as normal now, at least for me. Thanks!

    Forum problems?

Me too. I was thinking it was just an iPad/iPadOS 13 thing since nobody mentioned it. I’ve been looking for new posts on the Recent Posts sidebar. No idea what your home tab workaround is.

    Who needs an Africa Twin

I’m sure there are lessons to be learned from that video but man, it’s painful to hear the GW shocks bottoming out on the rocks. :wince:

    Who needs an Africa Twin

The 2019 CB500X was on my short list right up until I read that the best (Rally Raid) skid plate precludes a center stand. The manufacturer claims any other option won’t give sufficient protection. That tipped the scales and it left my list. Otherwise I still admire the bike. :)

Uffda! New Member In Minneapolis, Minnesota USA

Fortunately (?), Europe is such an important part of the motorcycle market that the Euro emissions standards are met even on bikes sold in the US (though sometimes delayed as the manufacturers use up old stockpiles of parts, etc.—possibly why the NC750X, et al, took its sweet time coming to...

Hm, that might be a close one. But certainly motorcycles are greener than a rocket launch! Well, except Harleys I guess. ;)

    Black or White?

To put a conclusion on this derailment, I ended up getting lightly used Firstgear Kilimanjaro pants off Ebay for $170. Size 34 which fits like size 32 pants for me. Does everything Firstgear makes run a size or two small?! Anyway, they’ll work out okay if I don’t wear anything too thick...
