NC700S Owners, in February 2021, I bought the SHAD40 top case. Now I am looking to add on two SHAD side cases. On the SHAD website, it indicates that the SHAD23 side cases are incompatible with my 2012 NC700S. Were any of you successful in installing a SHAD top case and SHAD side cases on your NC700S? If so, I would appreciate seeing and hearing about your solutions.

Ref the SHAD Spanish website, it indicates that the 3P pannier system is only compatible with the SH35 or SH36 side cases.

Bykie, would you be able to send me a photo of your solution so i can see how the IF hardware component connected to your ST rack?
Here are the foto’s , its fits perfect, the only thing you have to change are the adapters on the top of the rack, these new adapters come with the side cases, see also the fitting instructions

Bykie, i really appreciate this information. Which company/website provided you the SH23 side cases and 3P pannier connection hardware? If their solution worked for your 2012 Honda NC700S, it should work for mine too.

I bought everything on amazon.de because i live in the netherlands

Hi Bykie, concurrent to starting this thread, i also contacted the SHAD support in the USA. Attached is the response from customer service regarding the compatibility between the 3P hardware and the SH23 side cases.

I inquired with Shad last year about using the SH23 and they told me the same thing. Now it seems it can work and that makes me a little annoyed at Shad!

Understood. I thought this purchase would have been more straightforward.
Yes mixing old and new cases and racks is a bit of a minefield I think!

My 2014 NC750S came with an OEM Honda rack fitted, and of course Honda don't make the panniers for it any more, and they are hard to find (and expensive) second-hand. My local Honda dealer assured me that a set of Givi pannier rails would fit, which they sorta nearly almost did - but not quite! - it was a real struggle to get everything installed, and they put pressure on the bike's plastic side panels so they came undone at the front on a long trip through France that I did in June.

Eventually I bit the bullet and replaced the (heavy plastic) Honda rack with the relevant Givi rack and a Givi aluminium bag-carrier plate. It still required a bit of cursing to get all the holes lined up (and I had to drill my own mounting holes in the ally top plate as the standard ones were designed for a top box mount which i didn't want to use), but it worked in the end.

I think unless you're buying OEM kit you have to accept that a bit of "bodging" will often be needed!

Thanks for sharing Chris. My bike did not have any Honda OEM racks when i bought it used. My plan is to stay with the Shad lineup and buy two 23L side cases and hardware once funds are available.
