Hello all,

Been wanting to post this since the bike turned 100K and finally got around to it. I'm not the most diligent mechanic but if anyone is interested what a normal dude has done to maintain a commuter bike using the most basic of tools and mechanical knowledge while on a budget, well here it is:

The bike is a 2014 NC700X

parts installed:
Madstad, Barkbusters, Denali lights, center stand, SW motech crash bar, Rox riser, Givi top box, back rest for top box, Honda heated grips, Oxford heated grips, front fender extender, 12V Socket, upper and lower wind deflectors installed

  • 8000 rear tire replaced roadsmart 2 valves checked oil changed
  • 12900 front tire replaced roadsmart 2
  • 13600 chain and sprockets replaced
  • 15600 valves checked oil changed
  • 22700 oil changed
  • 24900 rear tire to pilot road 4
  • 27400 clocks replaced and zeroed
  • 3500 rear and front brake pads, new chain, oil changed honda
  • 4500 valve clearance check, coolant replaced
  • 7000 rear tire replaced
  • 10712 front tire replaced
  • 10712 oil change shell rotella
  • 12271 Spark plugs changed
  • 15000 Valves adjusted, coolant replaced
  • 17600 Oil changed Honda synthetic
  • 17600 Chain replaced
  • 18570 Rubber chain guide replaced
  • 18750 Rear tire replaced to Dunlop Roadsmart 2
  • 24200 oil changed new crush washer
  • 31300 Chain and front sprocket replaced
  • 32000 chain guide replaced
  • 32500 cyclops 7000 installed
  • 32600 oil rotella same crush washer k&n filter
  • 33880 valve adjustment, cover gasket replaced, coolant replaced
  • 35000 oxford grips installed
  • 37000 roadsmart 3 rear tire installed
  • 38200 oil and filter changed rotella reused crush washer, Michelin Road 5 front tire installed
  • 40300 new chain, same sprockets
  • 42100 oil and filter change
  • 43000 air filter changed
  • 43600 rubber chain guide replaced. Tutoro oiler installed
  • 44000 valves inspected, washer on bolts for valve cover and gasket replaced
  • 47000 oiler refilled tutoro oil
  • 48200 oil, filter and crush washer replaced
  • 48400 brake fluid replaced 10/6/18
  • 51000 tutoro refilled
  • 53400 front brake pads replaced
  • 54000 cyclops replaced/ installed version 10. Tutoro adjusted for more flow
  • 56000 spark plugs replaced, oil and filter changed
  • 61000 front tire replaced to roadsmart3
  • 62000 chain and sprockets replaced to oem specs (overall better), tutoro adjusted for more flow, oil and filter changed, valve clearance checked
  • 63000 chain oiler refilled, installed new seat
  • 68000 oil and filter changed
  • 73300 new battery installed 4/11/2022
  • 75000 oil and filter changed

So I had a quick scan thru that extensive list and all of it seems to be normal maintenance. Unless I missed something there is nothing exceptional on the list and that is the good bit. I am assuming You are talking miles as opposed to kilometers ?

Anything exceptional during the final 25000 ?

Some of it doesnt make sense to me. You replaced the rear tire at 7000 and 8000? And you replaced the rear brakes pads and chain at 3500? And the front tire at 10,700 and 12,900?

Looks like you've rolled up good mileage.
