2019: What did you do to/with your NC700 today?

Ah, never noticed those wind deflectors, thanks for the closeup pic, I was trying to spot them in the other pic and wasnt sure what he was referring to.

Rode the lawn mower all day instead of the NC, but I did order a new helmet. Spend for top tier items to bolt onto the NC, but I just can't make myself drop the coin on a high dollar helmet, although I know it's probably what I should do. My head is too big for Icon's fit now, and I have a Scorpion T510 that is a great helmet, minus the significant pressure point on my forehead after about 30 min-1 hour. I remember having an HJC back in the day that was pretty comfortable so I have been looking through the latest models. Always have wanted a Shoei too, and almost pulled trigger on a GT Air (first gen, not the newest GT Air II). Then I was pretty set on the HJC RPHA 70 ST, but was afraid of the reviews saying it fit rather tight, assuming like Icon tight. Stooped down a bit and liked what I seen with the HJC i70 Elim helmet for around $200, and I had $45 in-store credit with Revzilla after the Shad seat ordeal, after taxes grand totalled $166. I don't need much out of a helmet, just that it doesn't have any weird fitment issues.

Branching out a bit with the gray/hi vis color scheme, I kinda dig it. And I have always liked unique helmet colors.

The one I bought

The RPHA....I hate blue, but these colors pop! The asymmetry is cool too. Idk why, but I kept coming back to stare at that helmet. Lol. If the one I bought doesn't fit good, may send it back and try this one. It was around the $400 mark.

There are two for each side. May be easier to spot with these two photos.

EDIT to remove/replace photos. These should work better!

Ah, didn't notice the ones up higher! If they work, would be handy. I have bugs splattered all over my pants legs every time I ride. Lol

Congrats, for a motorcyclist, that is the equivalent of attending a ‘Burning Man’!

Ray

It was awesome! Six hour wait for a 30 minute ride and a great sunburn! Unfortunately I didn't link up with my friends while we were being ushered into the parking lot, but I did manage to hang around a bunch of great bikers. Also, saw some really nice bikes. I think I might have been the only NC700 out there. Lots of other adventure bikes though.

I took mine out after church to run up to the local office supply store for CDRs and some paper sleeves (new job and security means no MP3 players so it's back to CDs).

Tried the 1911 in a shoulder holster and it worked pretty good.

My cellphone dash-cam app captured an old guy blowing a stop sign and my having to swerve around him, horn blowing. Unfortunately by the time I got home it had overwritten the file  Maybe I need to invest in a camera...

Wife's first trip out on the NC. She made it a solid hour to one of our favorite spots for food and drink in Chattanooga TN, Tacomac. Once we stopped she exclaimed her discontentment with the seat. Lol.

And back home. Murdered about 4 million bugs while we were gone.

Up in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula this holiday day weekend with the family, truck and camper. Driving through all this beautiful country and seeing all the forest roads, lakes and campgrounds. Wishing I had the NC with me to go explore! I need to plan a trip back and ride all over here.

Just got back from NC/ northern GA trip.
Put 1100 miles on the bike in those wonderfull mountains. Sadly back in south Florida now, dreaming about the next trip.

It's a bank holiday in the UK, so no work for me today. With chores done in town this morning and my wife napping on the sofa to stave off a migraine, I've gone out for a random round trip.

Here I am at Calshot, with the Fawley power station overlooking the river. Ugly building - I believe it's due to be knocked down at some point...

took the NC to the car wash and finally sprayed all of the bugs off that i had collected from 6 states/2600 miles. Brought her home and removed the rear wheel to go and have the new 705 mounted just to find they are closed today in observance of our fallen military members, Happy Memorial Day to all!! :{)

Removed the Winter hand guards, installed normal bar end weights and lowered the Madstad screen to increase air flow...official warm weather set up complete :)

Hit a deer. My leg is pretty sore where we contacted. Ripped the saddlebag off and broke a lot of plastic. I'm mostly ok. I was able to get the saddlebag bungeed back on and went to work.

Holy crap man! My biggest fear now seems to be animal paranoia. I hit a deer in my car down in Mississippi a couple years back running 70 on a back road on way home from the casino. Ever since then, when riding motorcycles, especially at night, I have an underlying paranoia of what may jump out in front of me around the next turn, or on straighter roads with higher speed limits. Deer are being seen all over the place now in the city where I live and you used to never see them. Seen several on my way home from work at night standing on the side of the road, had 4 cross the road in front of me literally a few weeks ago on the way home a few miles from my house. I hope I never hit one on a bike.

Glad it didn't mess you up bad!

X-RAY done, nothing broken. Lots of deep muscle and bone bruising.
The bike seems ok, will need some new plastic and a new right side saddlebag.
Unfortunately I finally got to test my theory or deer. Do what you can to avoid he situation and minimize the chance of an encounter, if deer are present slow down If it becomes inevitable that you are hitting a deer, stay on the bike, keep the bike upright and do not slam on the brakes. Use the inharant stability of the bike when at constant speed and upright to help you. Hold on, hands on grips and feet on pegs. If you can sideswipe vs headon do that. Maintain stability, after contact keep moving. Get clear of debris and flailing animals, start to slow down very slowly still using the gyroscopic effect to keep you up.
My right leg had struck the deer and was in immense pain, so while I was slowing down I was concerned it was broke, I wiggled my toes, then moved my ankle. Then I could stop somewhere safe. Make sure you're ok. I was so I went back to the scene, found my saddle bag and silver side emblem. Never found the deer. Gave the bike a once over and went to work. From there I wasn't advised to go to urgent care.
