2021 Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES Features
Parallel-Twin Engine
The CRF100 Africa Twin’s 1,084 cc parallel-twin engine‘s piston stroke, large throttle bodies and cylinder head help deliver more power and torque that’s felt from 2,500270-degree Phased Crankshaft
A 270-degree phased crankshaft and uneven firing interval gives a distinctive sound and feel while helping to produce strong and linear power and instant response anywhere in the rev range.Exhaust Control Valve
To better manage the uprated intake efficiency and higher output the exhaust end-can now features a variable Exhaust Control Valve (ECV) very similar to the unit fitted to the CBR1000RR. It enhances both engine performance and efficiency as it opens at higher rpm and gives a pleasingSix-Speed Manual Transmission
The six-speed manual gearbox is both lightweight and robust – it uses the same shift-cam design as found on the CRF450R to ensure positive changes and uses shorter ratios. The gears themsevles have been re-shaped and constructed from stronger material.Assist Slipper Clutch
The aluminum clutch centre and pressure plate use ‘assist’ cams to ease upshifts and ‘slipper’ cams for deceleration and downshifting; the clutch diameter is now smaller and features reduced spring tension for lighter lever feel.Six-Speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT)
The Africa Twin is also available with an advanced, automatic shifting, six-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT). It featuresDCT - Cornering and Incline Detection
The six-axis IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) allows two features on the DCT models– cornering and incline detection. The IMU knows when the bike is cornering or on a steep incline and can adapt the gear shift pattern to give you better control and a more natural gear shift feel.Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU)
At the very heart of the Africa Twin’s elevated on- and off-road performance is a Bosch MM7.10 six-axis IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) that measures 6-axis of data and sends that information to other critical systems like: HSTC, ABS and wheelie control… these systems then make adjustments in real-timeG (Gravel) Switch
The DCT is specially engineered to handle off-road adventures, thanks in part to the G switch accessed through the TFT touch screen display. Activating the G switch in any riding mode improves the feel for available traction and machine control by reducing the amount of clutch slip during gear changesRiding Modes
The Africa Twin has four default riding modes: Tour, Urban, Gravel and the Off-Road mode as well as two customisable User modes to cover any riding conditionsHonda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC)
The Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) system comes with seven (7) levels of torque control, and an “off” setting. Thanks to the IMU which can determine when the rear-wheel starts to slip out and it will seamlessly modulate your torque control to keep you in that sweet spot duringWheelie Control
The wheelie control system takes cues from the IMU to know when and how fast the front wheel is lifting and reacts accordingly. There are three levels of wheelie control, plus the ability to turn it off.2021 Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES Photos
