After releasing the well-received RS 660 – the debut motorcycle for Aprilia’s mid-displacement range of bikes – it was only a matter of time until they developed and released a more ergonomic friendly version in the form of the Tuono 660 to continue their mid-displacement market dominance. After a year of existence, the Tuono 660 is still trucking along as a strong contender for riders seeking an RS 660 riding experience with a more comfortable seating position.
The “Tuono” namesake has always been used for the Italian manufacturer’s more up-right seated versions of their highly acclaimed supersport bikes. This ethos continues to the Tuono 660 as it is a debatably more comfortable riding experience when compared to the RS 660 counterpart.
The same 659 cc parallel-twin, four-stroke engine is carried over from the RS 660 and is tuned to produce an easy-to-ride 100 horsepower and 49.5 lb-ft of torque. Computer assists such as traction control, multi-map cornering ABS, cruise control, wheelie control, an engine braking system, and 5 riding modes work in synchronicity with the engine and onboard sensors for a safer riding experience.
The Factory edition of the Tuono introduces upgraded full-adjustable KYP suspension, a rear swat cowl, and support for the full APRC suite for multimaping cornering ABS.

Standard electronics that are anything but standard
The Tuono 660 Factory comes with a comprehensive package of APRC electronic controls including Ride-by-Wire acceleration and a six-axis inertial platform. Other standard features designed to elevate your riding experience are Quick Shift, Cruise Control, Engine Brake, Traction Control, Engine Map and Wheelie Control.
5 Riding Modes
With a choice of 5 Riding Modes, you simply select the one best suited to your needs or the conditions and voilà, traction and wheelie control, engine braking, ABS and other parameters are instantly adjusted to optimise your ride.
Advanced suspension
The factory version of the Tuono 660 sports refined suspension that is ideal for sports riding. The Sachs shock absorber with separate reservoir is adjustable in its compression, rebound damping and spring pre-load, while the Kayaba fork is fully adjustable in the same three parameters.
Cutting-edge braking
The Tuono 660 Factory comes with multi-map cornering ABS, a system with a specific algorithm behind it that optimises braking and ABS intervention on corners by constantly monitoring key parameters. These include lateral acceleration, the pressure applied to the front brake lever, and the lean, pitch and yaw angle, modulating the braking action in order to improve stability and deceleration.
A powerful statement on the road
The maximum power is upped from the Tuono 660’s 95 hp to 100 hp with the Tuono 660 Factory. The engine boasts even more drive during acceleration, thanks to the use of a shorter final drive, with a 16-tooth pinion gear, one less than Tuono 660. Note that it is not available in a depowered version compatible with an A2 licence.
Light on weight, heavy on performance
The Tuono 660 Factory version benefits from an improved weight-to-power ratio, the result of a new lightweight lithium battery that contributes to reducing the overall weight by roughly 2 kg, taking the kerb weight down to 181 kg. Add this to fully adjustable front and rear suspension and you have an extraordinarily efficient bike that is hard to resist.
A bolder, badder Tuono
The Tuono 660 Factory is true to its name with a built-in fairing, the secret of Aprilia Nakeds, and one which delivers outstanding protection and a more reactive, dynamic ride. Adding additional sporty punch are the Factory Dark graphics and single-seat tail fairing in black and red that, together with the passenger seat and foot pegs, is supplied as standard.
