To be honest I did buy the manual in .pdf format from a website which I thought was legit. With warranties, phone number, physical address etc and at about a third of what @Rydinon paid for his physical copy, which makes sense for a digital copy. Either way, last time someone asked for a digital service manual I did mention this website but it my post got removed. So don't ask, don't PM me, I won't tell the website again.

I got tricked into buying what I’m pretty sure is a pirated CD of the 2018-2020 Goldwing service manual. It certainly looked like a legitimate Helm product but there is no reference to Honda, Helm, or the Helm product #61MKC02 on the product itself. The seller is on eBay and doesn’t allow returns so I have opened a return dispute with eBay and will give the seller a chance to reply.

I noticed that typical photocopied, pirated printed Honda service manuals will have a white border around the cover graphics, and the binder holes will not be punched out, rather just pictures of holes. I once got duped into buying a stolen Ruckus manual on eBay, but now I think I know what to look for.

He replied with a snarky "you didn't have any concerns about potential piracy when you purchased it and only after you received and utilized it do you accuse me of piracy." I replied the ad cleverly presented as a legitimate Honda product and only after I received and viewed it was I able to make the judgement that you you sold me stolen copyrighted intellectual property. Since he did not reply I guess he agreed and Ebay notified me a few minutes later the return was authorized. I got the CD on Friday and asked for the return yesterday less than 24 hours later.

Realistically, the only way to duplicate, er.... pirate the service manual would be to use a big paper cutter to cut the binding off and then run the whole stack of pages through a copier with a document feeder and scanner. As I said, this is not a trivial task and is deliberate theft of intellectual property. That is why you end up with pictures of the punched holes. It would require a paper drill to punch the stack for a loose leaf binder. These are not found in most Staples or Office Max stores.

I noticed that @dduelin's vendor did not address the core issue - that his is selling stolen intellectual property.

Just for a laugh I plugged in my details into the Helm site for delivery to the UK. They wanted nearly $300 just for delivery. Hahahahahahaha no.

Who would be the supplier for the manual to Europe? In my search engine (DuckDuckGo so not tied to any user profile) the one I got my .pdf from appeared higher in the list than Helm but indeed Helm appears to be focused on North America. Of course I don't bother with ebay or any of the like when looking for this kind of stuff. You'd expect there would be an alternative channel (or possibly just the Honda distributor) supplying the manual to Europe. Especially as the NC bikes appear primarily designed for the Euro market (where fuel prizes are higher, distances are shorter and towns can be tight). I'm not even sure whether an American supplier would necessarily get you the correct manual. The 2021 model is probably identical both ends of the Atlantic but I do understand that when the NC700 was discontinued back in 2014 in Europe and replaced by the NC750X, the North American market stuck with the NC700 for another while. It also appears like the dual bending valve forks have been introduced later over there. Not sure whether that for instance changes the oil height.

So yeah, when buying the service manual from Helm and having it shipped to Europe, most of your money is being spent on people checking labels, placing stamps, writing signatures etc.

My North American 2012 Honda NC700X owner’s manual shows sourcing information for the Honda service manual. What is shown in the owner’s manual for models sold in The Netherlands? Is there a Honda part number fo European service manuals which a dealer can order?

My bike sadly didn't come with a hardcopy of the owners manual. I know it should but the space under that cover at the bottom of the frunk was empty. So yeah, I have downloaded the owners manual as well... It mentions the NC750X is US and the NC750XA is the Canadian version, so yeah I suppose I have downloaded a North American owners manual as well. It is the 2018 version so maybe that's one where the North Americans got the same bikes as the Europeans got.

Perhaps the manual you downloaded is not appropriate for your model. Features, fuel standards, wiring schematics, vehicle compliance requirements, etc. vary by country or region. Europe never gets exactly the same bike as North America. I’d suggest you locate an owner’s manual appropriate for your country or region market.

Alright thanks, I'll ask around. The Honda website itself isn't really helpful in this respect and so far I've only seen North American manuals of my generation of the bike(2018-2020). Whereas the North American manual indeed refers to the Helm website for USA customers (not for the Canadians), a 2021 manual I've found in Dutch doesn't refer to any publisher for manuals. I usually avoid reading manuals in Dutch or use Dutch language software as I've spotted too many mistakes. English documents just have seen more proofreaders! Anyway, there are quite a few dealers around who stock or are able to get hold of original Honda motorcycle components, so I'll check with them whether they could help me with the manuals as well. Cheers!

The shipping cost may be hilarious but I’d think it unlikely an owner of a Europe spec model would want the North American service manual. Chances are good there will be variations in the electrical schematics and other details, and HISS will not be covered.

The manual arrived to me too.

I'm looking for a service manual for my 2023 DCT, but the latest one Helm shows is for 2021. I'm assuming that means there hasn't been one published for 2022 or 2023 yet. Is there anything I'd be missing if I just picked up the 2021 manual? I know the 2023 is pretty much the same as the 2021, but I don't know if they're identical or not. Thanks for any assistance you all can provide!

Tim
Are you kidding? It's a year to 18 months old, change the oil and filter, check the tyres and keep riding.
My 2014 750x DCT has been mine for 6 years and i only have a downloaded 700, 2012 version manual. I've kept the engine clean inside and changed the chain by following "Normal" maintenance practices and checked/adjusted valve clearance after searching YouTube.

Seriously, it's not that hard.

One aspect that has changed, at least for the US market, is the NC owner’s manual now contains very little basic maintenance detail. For example my 2012 owner’s manual describes wheel removal and reinstallation, and (very importantly) includes the fastener torque specs. It describes how to adjust chain slack. It decribes how to change engine oil. Those topics and other information are no longer in the 2023 owner’s manual, making the service manual a little more valuable for some people.

The 2023 owner’s manual tells how to check drive chain slack. It tells you not to ride the motorcycle if the slack is outside spec. Then it moves on to the next topic without having described what to do about it; it does not even say to take the bike to a dealer. For any work involving wheels, the owner is simply advised to use a dealer’s services. The service manual, however, will cover those topics.

Personally, I would much, much rather refer to a technical manual than some youtube video. I, and likely some other people, will prefer to have the Honda service manual.

I will add, there is misinformation on youtube in some of the videos. Best to check maintenance procedures at the horses' mouth. The Honda Service Manual is the best tool you can own for your bike.

Could you please attach . . .
OldProf47, we don’t share stolen copies of the service manual on this forum. You did read the forum rules on the home page before posting, right?
