MASH ADVENTURE 400cc with side cases "Touring"

Very nice. The marketplace needs more bikes like that. That's pretty much what I mentioned in the AT Enduro thread, a 400cc 325 pound adventure bike.

i'm going to have trouble getting excited about the engine regardless of total weight. but yeah, eventually the mid-displacement category might get some major league attention if some bit players do enough to wake them the hell up.

for a seat height i can live with and a pretty good price tag the 630cc AJP PR7 looks like the devil's nads. too bad it's not going to be released as street legal in the US this year. but it's garnered some positive attention at least.

Too bad we are in the US. In other areas the mid-displacement ADV or enduro/dualsport category has seen some revitalization via the SWM SuperDual etc, though euro emissions requirements have made it tougher for these smaller manufacturers to really get settled. Price and dealer networks that are the result of smaller manufacturers make it maddening that Suzuki, Kawasaki, Yamaha, and Honda don't really see the possibilities for sub-400-pound machines that can do highway speeds comfortably with full luggage, decent fuel range and economy, and still go off-road with adequate clearance and deep enough suspension. The Versys 300 looks to be the only ripple in the US pool at present, though arguably the class would be better served with EFI 450-700cc (6-speed) powertrains.
