ABS brakes should probably be a 'deal killer' on new street bikes

ABS is a useful feature, within its limits. In situations where there is very low traction or you need to lock up the back-end, it is worse than useless. When there is a choice, I will never buy a vehicle with rear ABS.
Specifically we are talking about street bikes in this thread, so therefore traction does exist as the roadway surface provides significant tractions.

Crash data backs up 3 facts that, on a road bike (which describes the NC750x) ABS is safer:
  • Non-ABS bikes that lock up tend to crash with higher rates of deadly results.
  • ABS bikes overall data shows they crash less often than Non-ABS bikes.
  • ABS bikes that are involved in crashes tend to have less severe damage than Non-ABS bikes involved in crashes.
