We’ve just had word that a gorgeous 2002 Ducati MH900 Evoluzione is on the auction chop block at the Iconic Motorbike Auction – and with the limited-run unit seen as a top-shelf addition to any collector’s showroom floor, the Evoluzione likely won’t be up for long.
It all started with a sketch courtesy of one, Pierre Ternblanche – the mastermind responsible for the Super Mono, as well as time spent in the camps of Royal Enfield and BMW.
The sketch showed a concept of today’s MH900E – and with the moto community’s extremely positive feedback, Ducati created a limited run of 2000 units, 1000 of which sold out in just over half an hour.
This particular model – the 749th unit, manufactured in August 2001 – boasts the red and silver livery, which shows off under-seat exhausts, the iconic quarter-fairing complete with round headlight, and a semi-digital instrument cluster, reading 5,272 miles on the clock.
The MH900E’s 904cc, twin-cylinder engine still punches out a neat 75 hp and 56lb-ft of torque, complementing the additional Ducati Performance clutch pressure plate, aftermarket clutch springs and caps, and a chrome Rizoma clear clutch case.
New Pirelli Rosso II tires dress the bike’s lower extremities, latched to a unique single-sided swingarm and brake pads that apparently still have 65% life left.
Curious what the bike will cost you? This particular MH900E is being offered at a reserve price of $12,000, with the sale also including “a plaque denoting the authenticity, owner’s manual, extra key, tool kit, and the matching serialized t-shirt for the bike.”
