Last year, EICMA bestowed upon Ducati’s ultra-sexy Diavel V4 the “Most Beautiful Bike” award – an honor that merely confirmed Red Dot Design awards won in previous years.

Unfortunately, this year’s “Diavel V4 Design Nights” is followed up by a recall affecting Diavel V4 footpeg pairs.

“On Thursday, April 13, 2023, Ducati notified the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that select 2023 Diavel V4 models could suffer from faulty passenger foot pegs,” contributes Dustin Wheelan’s coverage of the situ over at RideApart.

“When extending/unfolding the passenger pegs, the forging defect could lead the passenger to “suddenly lose their foot support, increasing the risk of crash or injury.”

Apparently, Ducati has stated that the fault lies in that of their supplier but that the reparations should only take about 18-30 minutes at your dedicated dealership.

Bottom line, if you know of anybody with a Diavel V4 that carries a “K22” code and a VIN somewhere between ZDMGAR1W6PB000719 and ZDMGAR1W7PB001619, remind them that only the original foot pegs will be replaced. If there’s no “K22” stamp, they’ll be left alone – so make sure to bring photographic evidence “under the recall standards” while you’re at it.
