Sorry about yet another "heated grips" thread but I'm overwhelmed, having looked at probably a hundred posts already about them.

I'm considering these Oxfords: https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/oxford-heaterz-premium-touring-heated-grips which the site says can be trimmed down to 110mm (4.33 inches). I haven't measured the stock 700X grip yet (despite the funny "ruler" graphic in one of the posts) but one poster mentioned "about 100 mm." The first reviewer on the Revzilla site had a 700X so they obviously fit.

But I vaguely remember a post somewhere reviewing a grip that had a heat control that functioned like a twistgrip, not Oxford's box. I haven't found that one yet. Anyone know what that grip is, or where that post is?

The Honda grips have a button and indicator for control built into the left grip. They are the priciest of the bunch because you need to buy four different accessory part numbers to get everything you need to install them. I have them on my second NC because they were already installed.

The Oxford grips fit fine on the NC. They work with the stock bar end weights, too. I have a pair from Revzilla on my first NC that cost me only $50 at the time. They are the standard grip length you'll find on most bikes, including the NC.

I just got done installing my Bikemaster heated grips from Amazon that I bought for $40. I did receive a faulty unit and Bikemaster’s customer support sent me a new temperature controller unit and that still didn’t fix it so they just sent me an upgraded unit at no charge and I love that thing! It has a LED that also acts as a voltmeter. Killing two birds with one stone! One important tip, make sure you smooth out all the notches on the throttle tube with a dremel. Makes installation so much easier. I think it’s a must actually. I installed mine on the subharness. The main reason why I bought it was because couple of reviews from Amazon stated that they’ve used both oxford and bikemaster and didn’t see a difference. Now knowing that they offer awesome customer service, I’ll definitely go bikemaster for all my future heated grips needs. Oh they did ask for proof of purchase so I’m not sure if eBay would have worked. I have my heated grips with my cheap ebay hand guards and they work just fine together.

Here’s the version I bought.

Here’s the LED version. Can’t find it on Amazon.

I use over grips, wraps that go over your existing grips. The wires look like sh*t, but they go on in the fall and off in the spring. Oxford make Hot Hands for about $60 and Bikemaster makes some for about $30. The Oxfords can get too hot and require modulating with the switch. The Bikemasters are warm, but never too warm.

I like the look of this installation...

Hi Kumatae,

I live in San Diego, and I recently bought a used NC700X. I'd like to install some heated grips, and came across what I think are the same ones you used: https://www.amazon.com/Bikemaster-H...=8-1-catcorr&keywords=bikemaster+heated+grips

I'm a little confused by all of the wiring accessories Honda sells for their own heated grips, and wonder if you can help me figure out exactly what I'll need to get/do to install these Bikemaster grips. Thanks in advance for any help!

I just installed these BikeMaster heated grips! I have the version with the red LEDs, not with the LCD screen and a voltmeter. So far it is going well.

I am using a power brick for testing that is only rated for 1.5 A here, so guessing they are not making full power. I believe they should draw 3 amps when connected to a real battery, rather than a switching PSU.

1. Test to make sure they work/get hot

2. Left grip. Wife's hair spray to get it to slide on

3. Right grip. Had to use an (off-brand) Dremel to shave down the throttle tube.

Part II to come tomorrow.

Oxford touring are the best. Had them on three different bikes. No issues, no problems, get hot as hell and the controller will shut off on it's own if you forget to. Easy install if you're proficient at removing the NC bodywork.
