So I’m on the hunt for a new helmet and am looking at the UK sharp test and found something interesting. The Sharp test is conducted at 6, 7.5 and 8.5 m/s on both a flat and ‘kerb’ anvil. This is significant because ece 22.05 maxes out at 7.5 m/s, ece 22.06 stops at 8.2 m/s and snell only goes to 7.75 m/s. So more rigid helmets will most likely pass Sharp testing better.

Something to consider when looking.

Interesting, isn’t it? It’s exactly the opposite direction the ECE 22.05 lovers (and FIM helmet std lovers) claim is appropriate to go. It’s the direction Snell was pushing for decades, though.

It is! I was surprised that ece 22.06 also added a higher velocity test as well. Also makes me question the idea that ece keeps getting softer helmets.
