Hi all,
we decided to invest in a GoPro Hero 2, to film our adventures. And "investment " it is! But what a piece of kit you get! And so small, you can hide it in your hand, well, almost. Go and check out the features of this model, ( http://gopro.com/cameras/hd-hero2-motorsports-edition/?gclid=CIny4dyP2LACFUUhtAodQnBn3A#features) and you will agree it is worth the outlay. Good news, there is an input for an external stereo mic! Just have to find a mic, then we can make proper movies. Here is just a taster, Enjoy!

Looks an excellent piece of kit - and you certainly have empty roads and beautiful scenery! Some of the STOP signs were very unusual when compared with this country - which might explain a certain reluctance to stop?

I used a Gopro Hero2 on my bike last night before a wonderful rain shower. Probably not much more interesting than coming over and looking at my family album. However, you can see how one must be proactively cautious riding around wooded areas at 3 minutes until the stop sign and the deere standing in the middle of the road. Safe riding and loving my new DCT!

Thanks Tania for the vid.
The roads are paved but there seems to be lots of sand also?
And there are some cracked areas which could spell danger or rough riding.

One day I will surely visit SA.
Til then, ride safe!

Hi Tanserf, congrats on the gizmo. Thanks for sharing the ride.

GoPro is a very good waterproof camera for EXTREME sports. I do not own one because of the following reasons. It has a "funny" fisheye lens effect. It is very expensive. It has no preview function not even a hole (you do not know what you are filming or framing). My friend does not even know if it is filming oor taking a still photo. However, I would buy it for the following reasons: It is really sharp and HD quality. It is waterproof and sort of shock-proof. It has many mounting available. It is the defacto "action cam" in the market. Hope this helps. (No offense intended to the owners of GoPro) :p

The indicator on front tells you whether you are taking stills or movies. There is an add-on backpack viewer than will show you what you are filming. You are right about the fisheye though, but it makes it look like you are going faster than you really are and everyone will think you are awesome, except your wife and your mom who will give you hell about it.

I think the real advantage of the Hero is the "wearability" by an extreme sportsperson (on the helmet / chest etc) and the huge amount of different mountings available.
The film HD quality is also the first on the market with such devices, but rest assured many are catching up, and with a bit of ingenuity, one can mount a cheap Digital Camera and take also awesome films.
:D

Just check out my vids...all made on my daughter's cheap dummy-shoot camera way under USD100.
