I finished off my valve clearance today. On putting the radiator back on I noticed the paint bond is breaking up. Should I be concerned about this?

I’ve wondered about that, too. I expect it’ll start corroding wherever it’s not either painted or submerged in coolant. If the tank is aluminum, that may not really be a big deal since aluminum rust creates a coating that halts additional rusting. It’s kinda whitish and chalky. I’d still repaint it if mine was coming off much.

I noticed mine flaking around the bottom. The only concern is that it looks crap. I scraped it off and applied some anti rust/corrosion paint which stayed put.

Thanks guys. For some reason I had not thought of repainting. Based on the weight it feels like aluminum. Next time I have it off I will play with some paint.
