I forgot how aggravating it was to jack this bike up. Bottom of case sits just below the frame rails, so you have to roll back tire up on 2x4's to get it higher, slide jack under, put 2x4's under frame rails so it clears the case, then jack up, and the jack is just barely as wide as the frame rails. Difficult to get all that set up by yourself.

Then it's so rear heavy, it only jacks up the front, so I'm gonna do the front tire first, then will have to get the engine hoist out and some straps to lift the rear end while still on the jack. Was gonna do clutch spring tonight, but this tire change may take longer than I remembered. Been about 4 yrs since I last did this. Lol

Well it only took me 12 hours (ha), but got the tires changed and clutch spring replaced....it's 3:20am, time to call it a night and go inside, gonna sleep good tonight.

Man I hate removing and reinstalling the rear tire on this thing, what a nightmare. Gotta remove so many things to get to it, then have it jacked up high enough to slide it out from under it. Glad it's over with.

Old clutch spring and a penny that broke when I used it to jam the gears while I torqued the clutch rod nut to 108 ft lbs. Not real excited that the penny broke, possibility of copper debris. I cleaned it best I could after it broke. Guess I should have used a newer penny. Lol

What an improvement! More pulling power, quicker engagement, no slipping, probably better fuel mileage. Didn't realize how crappy the old weak clutch spring was. And new tires, man it's been awhile....haha. Feels like a new bike!

Rode up to Chattanooga for some good food and a couple good beers.

Then went to Tremont Tavern for some to-go food to eat later. Best burgers around.

Those are beautiful! We have a Vintage Motorcycle Show here in Louisville, KY in the middle of September. Those would look awesome at the show. Scott hasnt updated the dates yet, but it is close to the same every year.

from this pink to nice red

The big 2 strokes were so much fun in the day , loved my RD400

This R1200R was the worst Bike i ever owned for a passenger. the problem was the seat / tank area was unforgiving and the sloped rear seat caused the passenger [ my wife ] to slide down every time i put on brakes and crush my pressure sensitive area to the point i would almost rather crash than put on brakes. was a hoot riding solo while my old 900 was way down on power and i always had charging problems BMW 2 (2).jpg

This weather has been insane. This past Monday was over 70 degrees, then cooler and rainy, then woke up to a few inches of snow on the ground yesterday, but it was all gone in a matter of a few hours after it stopped snowing, now today we'll have temps in low 60's. Then tomorrow back to raining. This coming week, on Mon and Tues they are giving 4-6" of rain, then Wed-Fri another 4-6" of rain. Crazy stuff!

I didn't take any pics at my house, but this first pic is my parent's backyard yesterday. Then some crazy person kayaking off Little River Falls while it was snowing yesterday. Falls were flowing bigtime! Gonna be worse after this week. Then another time lapse pic someone posted on Facebook from our area of the snow coming and going LOL.

Yep, mother nature is off her meds....yesterday morning, starting snowing at my house at 11:30am, almost an inch of snow (and it stuck) before noon-everything covered in white...at noon, starting sleeting for 15 minutes, then started raining for a couple of hours....at 3pm, sun came out and blue bird skies...just before sunset, started raining again and still raining this morning...Ohio River starting to come up in Louisville...noticed this morning the river was over the edge of the great lawn....and forecast for 4 days of rain...jeesh...

As Yuma, AZ, enters its brief Spring, it was a wonderful day to take a little ride. I needed to go into town—20 miles away—for groceries anyway.

I’m pretty happy with my pannier choice. I debated hard vs soft, and what brand/model, for literally months. These are Brooks Autosports clear anodized, 2mm thick walls, 3mm thick bottoms, top loading, hinged & locked fore and aft. My helmet fits into the right-side 41L case (Schuberth Medium C3; Large & smaller are the same shell size, BTW).

For windscreen, I tried very hard to make the OEM short or tall ones work for me. The previous owner included both and I purchased the top deflector off of Amazon for $45. No go! Wind buffeting and noise was a killer. So I bit the bullet, got the tall V-Stream shown. The deflector tuned it so that I can go visor-up at 60mph comfortably. Noise/buffeting is minimal unless I get nasty crosswinds.

So, along with other stuff not shown (tent & etc.), I’m about set for my 6-7 month Western States tour starting the end of March. We’ll see how well I chose my farkles & gear after that! It should be fun. Or at least educational. ;)

I've a 1974 XL100, I replaced the stator and am awaiting some more parts, I have no spark. Still need to clean the tank then we'll see if she will run. That's it.

As much as I enjoy my NC, I hate how stupid assemblies of body plastic get in the way of quick basic maintenance or parts replacement. I mean, this thing is needlessly arcane compared to dirt bikes, dualsports, and many road bikes as well.

And then there's that crap frunk lock cable nonsense, and the fuel refill scheme.
