Don't know who's bike this is, but Russell Day Long seats is finally showing a seat for the NC700 on its website. Front and back seat together are $650, I called and asked.
Comfy, comfy, comfy.

BOY ! That looks sooo compfy, is right. I have the Shad for now. But if I'm ever able to ride longer distances in the future, this will be a sure investment.

Yes, IF I ever win the lottery, Russel Day-long will be the first seat, and probably the last , I buy. It's been on my wish-list since I got the bike!

I don't see how one can touch the ground,it is wide.don't think i care for it.

It's definitely a different look and I know some who won't get one simply for that reason. I've had Mustang, Sargent, Corbin, and Ultimate seats on my different bikes but the Day-Long on my FJR is by far the most comfortable. Yes, it will raise you up a little higher but you also have to send in pictures of you sitting on the bike when you order and they seem to get the adjustment pretty close.

Wide in the back narrow in the front works for most riders.........but ...........30" inseam need not apply:eek:

Most agree RDL are the holy grail of seats

I could park that in my TV room. I would have to velcro the clicker to the front brake reservoir, and get a Goldwing drink holder on the handle bars.

Like you, I have a 30 inch inseam. I can flat foot both feet sitting on the stock bike. For long rides, I use the Bill Mayer pad. It raises the seat so that both feet can still touch the ground, but not flat foot!
I'm guessing the Russel Day-Long would have about the same effect. It's expensive, but I think it would be best to get both seats done so that they match? Was installation.... difficult?

Here's the Bill Mayer saddle I use now..

I am considering the RDL for Christmas..........but I have a 34" inseam so no worries on the touching the ground. I suspect install is very very easy and also expect the fit to be perfect given Russel's reputation.

I haven't considered a local upholster guy just because motorcycle seats are a special case. I'd rather have someone with a lot of experience with motorcycle seats than some guy who usually does "tuck and roll" saying...

"motorcycle seat? Yeah, sure I can do a motorcycle seat!"

I bet he could, but he might not know the first thing about how to make a comfortable, long lasting, seat.

I don't like the price either, but I do appreciate the track record Russel has built up over long experience.

PS.
As I sit here and think about it, I realize you are correct. I live in a town where there is a huge Harley dealer... that probably means there is a custom shop that does this sort of work... hmmm.... might be worth looking in to... still seems like a real gamble. At least RDL is a known quantity.

+ 2 on the ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

With out research, engineering and prototyping the chances of the local guy getting it right on his first chance are slim and none .........not to mention the seat pan needs work to get the wider in back support that is lacking with the stock seat.

The local guy is going charge another $200 and I still get another mediocre seat at best or worse a seat that works no better than what I have.

I've had mine for a while and love it as expected. Mine's a dual since the wife rides with me most of the time. I've had 4 RDL's over the years plus 3 other brands and will never use anyone else again.
