I'm not having any issues with the 2016 seat. It's textured and not slippery.

Has a good enough cushion:

But I've only ridden it 60 miles... Mostly parking lot maneuvers and some highway, and I'm used to mountain bike seats. :)

We'll see how it goes. So far so good.

Could you measure the width of the seat at its widest point?
 
Looks like the 2014-2015 seat. Ride it 500 miles in a day and see what you think. Actually I used my stock seat for about 8000 miles and while it was torture, it was better than one of the four aftermarket seats I tried.

They're made to fit somebody's butt, just not mine. I don't know of anyone who has thighs that match up with those squared off ridges on the stock seat.

I ride a mountain stock bike about 3 hours a week. Funny how that will make a motorcycle seat feel luxurious.
